Speaking of these developments, Fiona Harold, CEO of World Netball (WN) said: “The international network ball was not more competitive, but the scene became increasingly complicated to move.

“WN needs to support its members and provide solutions that mean everyone in the benefits of the ecosystem.

“We also need to be proactive about our isolation in the future, given the uncertainty about the Commonwealth games after 2026.

“These decisions allow us to control our destiny, which is positive news for everyone. As the International Federation, it is our duty to keep the game in the long run.”

Harold hopes that these changes will help build a network ball to include them in the Olympic Games for the first time.

“While the global network ball will always remain proud of the traditions of sport, we should not be hostage to them,” Harold added.

“Our sport is open to everyone, and now you feel the right time to make a clear statement about the men’s game, which quickly gains momentum.

“The resounding reactions from many stakeholders across the game are that this is a really positive step, especially as we continue to seek and build our case to include the Olympic Games.
