Former special counsel Jack Smith investigated by government watchdog over alleged Hatch Act violation

The US Special Adviser’s office (OSC) is investigating former private lawyer Jack Smith, OSC has emphasized Fox News.

Smith was exploited in 2022 by then -General Merik Garland to be a private lawyer regarding the president’s investigations at that time Donald Trump.

OSC is investigating in Smith due to its violation of the opening law, which prevents government employees from participating in political activities. It is not a criminal investigation.

Fox News Digital continued to the White House to comment on Saturday, but he did not receive a response.

OSC was not the same as a private advisor appointed by a public prosecutor, as Smith was, but “is a federal investigation agency and an independent federal approval,” according to its website.

“OSC’s legal authority comes from four federal laws: the Civil Service Reform Law, the Law of Protection of Infallions, the Apartment Law, and the USERRA Law on USERRA,” explains the site.

Republican senator Tom Couton recently asked OSC to look at whether Smith illegally participates in political activity to influence the 2024 elections against Trump.

“I am writing a request from the Special Adviser’s Office to investigate whether Jack Smith, the Special Adviser to the Prosecutor Merik Garland, has taken political measures to influence the 2024 elections to harm then Donald Trump.”
