Trump orders more combat-ready forces into Middle East

President Donald Trump has officially informed the congress that he ordered the Ministry of Defense to transport additional forces equipped to fight in the Middle East, where American forces are carrying out military strikes against Houthi militants in Yemen in an attempt to stop attacks on American forces and commercial ships in the Red Sea.

In a letter dated March 28 and issued on Tuesday, Trump told parliament Speaker Mike Johnson and Senate Speaker Pro Timpur Chuck Grassley that he had ordered the Ministry of Defense to increase the American military presence in the region and fired major strikes in Houthi -controlled areas.

“I will not allow this pirate group to threaten and attack the United States and commercial ships in one of the most important freight corridors in the world,” Trump wrote. “We will act to maintain the safety of the Americans.”

He said that the United States will continue to hit until the group no longer pose a threat to navigation or American employees.

The strikes include marine ships, air force launchers, and drones targeting Houthi weapons, leadership and command centers.

Trump said that the procedures are consistent with his authority as the Supreme Leader and in line with the decision of the war authorities, which requires Congress to remain aware.

The message comes at a time when the Trump administration continues the daily military operations in Yemen, and now entered the fourth week. The air strikes began after the renovation of Houthi threats against ships and Israeli attacks on American forces, including three drones on March 3.

Last week, the administration approved the World Bank of Yemen (IBY), accusing him of helping the Houthis move internationally and avoid restrictions. The US Treasury has banned the bank’s associated assets and its leadership, including President Kamal Hussein Al -Jabri and two senior managers.

“Financial institutions like IBY are crucial to the Houthi’s ability to finance attacks,” said Treasury Deputy Minister Michael Volwkander.

The Treasury and the State says that the Houthis use the bank’s arrival to the World Highway to support terrorist operations, including oil purchases and arms purchases.

In March, Trump published on the social truth that “many Houthi leaders” were killed in recent strikes, saying that the group “was canceled” and Iran, the chief supportive, warned that this may be after that if the attacks continue.

“Choosing the Houthis is clear,” Trump wrote. “Stop shooting at us on ships, and we will stop shooting at you.”

The Houthis began intensifying attacks in the Red Sea after Hamas terrorist attack in October 2023 on Israel. They have claimed responsibility for targeting American warships and have so far avoided hitting Chinese and Saudi ships, which raised questions between defense officials about their strategic goals.

Congress is expected to review the Trump report in the coming days with the continued American strikes.
