Schumer again blocks GOP attempt to reopen government as air traffic controllers don’t get paid

Senate Democrats on Tuesday blocked Republicans’ 13th attempt to reopen the government after spending nearly a week weighing their options — and with a series of pressure point deadlines quickly approaching.

On the 28th day of the shutdown, Senate Majority Leader John Thune attempted to advance a continuing resolution passed by the House of Representatives (CR) but was again thwarted by the Senate Minority Leader. Chuck SchumerDN.Y., and the Democratic Rally.

The failure to reopen the government on Tuesday came with air traffic controllers missing their first day of pay. Army is scheduled to miss his first full day of pay on Friday.
