Fox News Poll: Voters have concerns about DOGE, even as they see need for cuts

Voters have concerns about the recent government spending discounts implemented by the Ministry of Government efficiency (DOGE), even when they see the need for such an effort.

Most of them believe that national debt is a major crisis or problem, and nearly 6 out of 10 feels a great deal or almost or that government spending is “waste and ineffective”, according to the New Fox News News survey.

However, the slim majority by 51 % opposes the reduction of the number of government employees significantly, as it does not reject about 56 % of the job of the Trump administration determining and reducing waste spending, and 65 % of anxiety from the lack of enough thinking and planning in discounts.

Fox News poll: Trump is the most popular ever

A large minority of Republicans (39 %) shares anxiety of large numbers of Democrats (88 %) and independents (71 %) on how to implement discounts.

Forty percent agrees to the job of Elon Musk to work with Doug, while 58 % do not agree. 93 % of Democrats do not dance, along with 70 % of independents and 20 % of Republicans.

When asked about financing specific federal programs, the majority believes that the government should increase social security financing (63 %), medical care and stabbing (58 %), and medical research (53 %), while a large minority says of military and national defense financing (44 %). Feelings are more confused in human external aid, as 23 % want to increase federal financing on aid, and 36 % will keep him at the same level as last year, and 39 % want to reduce it.

When asked about the specified definitions, voters prefer to impose them on products from China (55 %), while opposing the definitions of Mexico (56 %) and Canada (61 %).

Regarding the public economy, an increasing number of voters believes that it is in a bad condition, and many believe that inflation is out of control, most of them believe that the recession is somewhat possible.

The opinions of the economy have been strained since President Donald Trump began his second term, as 79 % of voters give them negative signs, up from 70 % two months ago. This increase in pessimism is significantly due to a rise in 35 points between Democrats, in addition to a 18 -point jump between independents. During the same period, the Republican Evaluation of the Economy turned positively by 22 points.

At the end of December, at the end of the tail of former President Joe Biden, it was 77 % a negative view of the economy.

About 60 % of voters estimate their personal financial resources negatively, which is a 62 % better touch in December.

Despite nearly half, 47 %, they still say inflation “not at all” is under control, this decreased from 56 % in early 2023 (the last time the question was asked).

Seven out of 10 say they expect a stagnation this year, including the majority of Democrats (93 %) and independents (72 %), and half Republicans (50 %).

These feelings help clarify the reason for identifying more than 4 out of 10 inflation (27 %) or the economy in general (16 %) as the most important issues facing the country. Those who beat the most common issues: political divisions (14 %), political leadership/corruption (10 %), and immigration (8 %). For reference, 3 % states government spending and 2 % say definitions.

“Although the parties have modified their positions with change in departments, the public as a whole is still increasing on the economy,” said Republican reconnaissance expert Darwin Show, who is conducting Fox News polls with Democrat Chris Anderson. “The aggression of Trump’s tariff policy and the speed of Doug’s behavior has bothered the Democrats and many independents. If Trump wants to maintain wide general support, it is necessary to result from his approach to results.”

Trump started his first term with 48 % of approval of the work (February 2017). Today, his approval of the 49 % record stands, which he also achieved once during his first term (April 2020). For comparison, Biden’s approval reached 56 % in June 2021. Currently, 92 % of Democrats do not reject Trump, while a number of Republicans (92 %) corresponds to. 97 % entirely of Trump 2024 supporters as the job he performs as a president.

Trump underwater rankings by 13 points on the economy (43 % – 56 % on attached) and 18 points on inflation (40-58 %). He receives his best signs on border security, with a majority of 56 % (43 % on the attached).

It was conducted from 14 to 17 March, 2025 under the supervision of Beacon Research (D) and Shaw & Company Research (R). The Fox News scanning includes interviews with a sample of 994 registered voters who were randomly chosen from a national voter file. The respondents occur with direct interviews on the ground lines (123) and mobile phones (648) or completed the survey on the Internet after receiving the text (223). The results based on the full sample have a margin of sampling error from ± 3 percentage points. An error in the samples associated with the results between the sub -group is higher. In addition to the error of sampling, the formulation of questions and demand can affect the results. Weights are generally applied to the variables of age, race, education and the region to ensure that the population composition of the respondents represents the registered voter residents. Sources of developing weight goals include surveying American society, Fox News analysis of voters, and voter file data.
