Frank may have found Spurs’ new Kane-type player in “incredible” star

How Thomas Frank would like to have a striker of Harry Kane’s quality at his current club Tottenham Hotspur, just over two years after the striker moved to Bayern Munich.
Richarlison is currently the club’s top scorer in the Premier League this season with three goals in seven games, but two of those goals came against Burnley on the opening day.
It means the Brazil international has scored just once in his last six Premier League appearances for the Lilywhites since that brace against the newly promoted side.
Dominic Solanke, Frank’s replacement at striker, has been sidelined with injury since August. However, when playing regularly, last season, the England striker scored just nine goals from 10.97xG, per Sofascore.
These stats suggest that Frank does not have a reliable and consistent number nine who he can rely on to provide quality in front of goal week after week in the Premier League.
Tottenham would love to have Kane back because he provided another reminder of his quality, not that anyone needs that, with a brace against Latvia on Tuesday evening.
Harry Kane is ranked among Tottenham’s English stars of all time
It is difficult to argue against the prolific striker being the best Spurs player ever to play for England, given what he has achieved at club and international level.
Kane, of course, is the club’s all-time top scorer with 280 goals in 435 appearances in all competitions, according to Transfermarkt, before his move to Bayern Munich in 2023.
This means you can prove that the experienced striker is one of the best players in Tottenham’s history, and not just one of the English team’s best ever players. However, some might point out that he never won a trophy with the club.
This is also the case with England. He is yet to win a major trophy with England, having lost two European Championship finals, but he boasts the most impressive number of goals in the country’s history, by a wide margin.

As you can see in the table above, Kane has scored 76 goals in 110 appearances for England, having burst onto the scene as a young player at Tottenham and establishing himself in the Three Lions’ line-up.
Gary Lineker and Jimmy Greaves also made the top five on that list as former Tottenham players, but the Bayern Munich striker has scored more goals for both Tottenham and England than they have, as impressive as they are in their own right.
So, there is a fair argument to suggest that Kane is the best Tottenham player to ever play for England, and he still has plenty of time to strengthen his case.
Meanwhile, Tottenham may be preparing their next Kane-type player in north London, as they have a star who could emerge as a regular for the Three Lions for many years to come.
Jed Spence has come a long way to establish himself as a key player at Tottenham, but he appears to have found his feet at both club and international level.
Why could Jed Spence be a Harry Kane-type player at Tottenham?
The 25-year-old, who was described as “amazing” by Alan Houghton, joined the club from Middlesbrough in the summer of 2022, and spent time on loan at Rennes, Genoa and Leeds United in the 2022/23 and 2023/24 seasons.
Antonio Conte and Ange Postecoglou did not immediately include him in their plans before the latter brought him into the team last season.
Spence has made 35 appearances in all competitions for the Lilywhites, in what has been an impressive campaign for the young defender, and has already emerged as a key performer for Frank, starting five of his six Premier League matches, according to Sofascore.

As you can see in the table above, the versatile full-back, who can play left or right, has caught the eye with how progressive his play is in possession, as he constantly tries to make things happen through passes and dribbles.
As well as being impressive with the ball at his feet, Spence also prides himself on being reliable and difficult to get past defensively, which is why he could earn a place in the England squad moving forward.
Spence Graphic
As you can see in the graph above, the Tottenham star put in an impressive performance against Latvia for England on Tuesday, without being dribbled over once.
Spence, who Neil Warnock claims “can run all day long”, also started the 3-0 win over Wales last week and was not dribbled out once, according to Sofascore, while winning 100% of his attempted tackles in that match.
Sometimes players come into the England national team after impressing at club level, and don’t appear to be at the level required for international football, or seem to need time to de-stress and adapt.
Sometimes, players enter the field and never leave because they are immediately home. This was the case for Kane, now England captain and a certified legend, and it appears that this is indeed the case for Spence.
Thomas Tuchel, the 25-year-old full-back, started in both matches, at left-back against Wales, and at right-back against Latvia, and he was impressive in both matches, as mentioned above. He did not appear fazed by the occasion and showed he has the quality to be a regular in the England squad.
Both full-back positions are available to England ahead of next summer’s World Cup, and Spence could easily become a key player for Tuchel and his country, as Kane has done over the years, if he continues in the same way he started his international career.
So, perhaps Spurs are preparing their next Kane-type player, in Spence, as he has the potential to become a regular in the England national team for many years to come.
