GameStop customers may be eligible for payment after privacy breach settlement

Customers who have bought a video game from the famous gaming site, Gamestop, during the past five years, can be qualified to obtain compensation under a modern settlement after violating the alleged privacy.
The collective lawsuit, which Alejandro Aldana and Sakut Ghali, Gamestop, accused of sharing personal information for customers without their consent.
The document said that Gamestop “revealed the customer information that can be done on the Internet on Facebook through Facebook Tracking Pixel without approval, in violation of the VPPA Privacy Protection law (VPPA).”

As a result of a settlement of $ 4.5 million, affected customers can obtain a cash boost of $ 5 or a voucher of about 10 dollars for use on the retail site, according to the lawsuit.
Customers can qualify for compensation from the settlement if they buy a game from Gamestop between August 18, 2020 and April 17, 2025, and they have a general Facebook account that displays the name used at the time of purchase.

In order to receive compensation, qualified customers must submit a claim on the settlement site by August 15.
The application form asks that the claimants provide their full name, address, email monitoring and phone number, and prove the ownership of a Facebook account either with a link or screenshot of the profile.

Gamestop denies that it violated any law, but it agreed to the settlement to avoid the uncertainty and expenses related to the continuation of the case, according to the settlement site.
Fox Business connects with Gamestop to comment, but it hasn’t heard of publication time.
