Ghislaine Maxwell congressional deposition postponed over Supreme Court petition

Chairman of the House of Representatives Supervision Committee James Commer, R-Ky. The deposit of the planned Gislaine Maxwell even after the Supreme Court weighs its request to condemn it, according to a letter obtained by Fox News Digital.

The committee’s investigators were appointed to travel to Talhaasi Prison on August 11.

In a letter sent to Comer earlier this week, Maxwell’s lawyer claimed that she “did not receive a fair trial” and was stipulated to delay the date of deposit even after the Supreme Court was dissolved.

“On July 30, the United States Supreme Court noted that cohesion of Certiorari’s order will be considered at its conference on September 29. In light of this notice, the committee is ready to delay your deposit until a date after the court’s decision,” Kumer wrote on Friday.

According to the Kentucky Republic’s message, Maxwell’s lawyer warned that she would call for the fifth amendment to avoid answering any questions unless certain conditions are met.

“These conditions include the following: (1) grants from immunity, (2) the deposit that occurs outside the FCI Talhasse, (3) to reach the committee’s questions in advance, and (4) the conclusion of your last call to the US Supreme Court and the possible petition in the future of the garment.”

He denied her requests to obtain congressional immunity and obtain questions in advance, but he wrote that the committee would continue to “participate in goodwill negotiations.”

Commer also pledged that the committee will honor “its long exercise of engaging in explicit and detailed discussions about the range.”

A summons order was issued to Maxwell after unanimously voted by both Republicans and Democrats in the committee in late July.

Representative Tim Porschet submitted a suggestion of calling Maxwell.

“Your testimony is vital to the efforts of the committee related to Mr. Jeffrey Epstein, including the 2007 dissatisfaction agreement and the circumstances surrounding the death of Mr. Epstein,” Kumler wrote. “These investigation efforts can be used to inform potential legislation to improve federal efforts to combat sex trafficking, reform the use of dissatisfaction agreements and/or guilty acknowledgment agreements in sexual crime investigations.”

The message comes hours after Fox News learned that Maxwell was transferred from Florida to a federal prison camp in Brian, Texas.

congress investigators are looking to speak with Maxwell because of her long close relationships with Epstein, who was waiting for a trial of sex trafficking when he died due to suicide in a prison in New York City in 2019.

MAXWell itself was sentenced to 20 years in prison in June 2022 “because of her role in a plan for sexual exploitation and abuse of many underage girls with Jeffrey Epstein over a decade of time,” according to a press statement issued by the southern region of New York.

In the delay request, Maxwell’s lawyer argued that “any certificate she now submitted can present her constitutional rights, prejudice her legal claims, and perhaps she has been in the form of jury in the future.”

Maxwell had already met with federal investigators last week when Deputy Prosecutor Todd Blanche sat with her in Talhaasi towards the Public Prosecutor Pam Bondi.

“President Trump told us to issue all reliable evidence. If Gisslene Maxwell has information about anyone who committed crimes against victims, the Federal Investigation Office and the Ministry of Finance, you will hear what you say,” Bondi said in a statement announced by the meeting.

“We recognize President Kumler’s message and appreciate the committee’s readiness to delay Mrs. Maxwell waiting for her case before the Supreme Court. We will continue to communicate with Congress in good faith to find a way for Mrs. Maxwell to share her information without monitoring her constitution.”
