GMU under investigation for suspected Civil Rights Act violations in hiring

The Ministry of Justice is realizing whether George Mason University (GMU) is involved in discriminatory employment practices. According to the administration, it focuses on determining whether GMU violates the seventh chapter of the 1964 Civil Rights law, which prohibits employers on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, or national origin.

“It is illegal and non -American to deny him access to job opportunities on the basis of race and sex,” said the assistant prosecutor, Harram Delon of the Civil Rights Department of the Ministry of Justice, in a statement. “When employers examine the qualified candidates from the recruitment process, they are not limited to confidence in our public institutions – they violate the law, and the Ministry of Justice will achieve accordingly.”

In a letter to the GMU Council, President of the University “Cully” Stimson, Dhillon wrote that the Ministry of Justice has a “reason for the belief” that race and sex were used “the factors that stimulate the decisions to employ faculty members” under the President of GMU Washington.

Dhillon stated that on July 23, 2020, Washington sent an e -mail to the GMU faculty list in which he said he intended to create a “promotion of renewal and possession” that would benefit from the “College of Colors and Women”. “I have allowed a full investigation to determine whether GMU is involved in a pattern or practice of discrimination as stipulated above. We have not reached any conclusions on the subject of the investigation,” Dhillon wrote.
