government sources said on Wednesday that Singapore (Reuters) -Google (Goog) will invest $ 6 billion to develop the 1 -Gigawat data center and power infrastructure in southern Andra Pradesh in the first investment in the alphabet unit in India.

It is scheduled to be built in the city of Veskatabnam. The investment of the data center includes two billion dollars in renewable energy capacity that will be used to operate the facility, which are the sources of Andra Pradesh government with direct knowledge of the issue of Reuters.

The Search Giant Data Center will be the largest in terms of capacity and the size of the investment in Asia and is part of the expansion of billions of dollars in the data center portfolio across the region in countries including Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand.

In April, Alphabet (Googl, Googl) said it was still committed to spending about $ 75 billion this year to build the data center capacity despite the economic uncertainty resulting from the global tariff attack by US president Donald Trump.

The alphabet did not respond immediately to Reuters request to comment.

Andra Pradesh Minister of Information Technology, Nara Lukash, who works in Singapore, has not commented to discuss investments with the government and business leaders there, on Google’s investment.

“We have released specific ads like SIFY, which is general,” said 550 megawatts of SIFY Technologies. “There are some ads that were not yet general. In October, we will issue these ads.”

Andra Pradesh, a country managed by a leading ally of Prime Minister Narindra Modi, was divided into two parts in 2014, and her former capital Haidar Abad and a major revenue source to the newly created Tylangana state.

Andra Pradesh has since been looking to attract investments to reduce the financial strains of high debts and social spending.

Luxch said that Andra Pradesh has already managed to finish the finishing touches on investments in databases with a total capacity of 1.6 GB, aiming to build 6 GB of databases over the next five years of zero currently.

1.6 GB is expected to be operated from the agreed data centers in the next 24 months. This will be more than 1.4 GB currently in the entire country, according to the real estate consultations.

“We are also working to get three cable landing stations in Veskabnam. We want to create enough cable network, which will be twice what Mumbai will have today,” Lukash said.
