GOP centrist Rep. Don Bacon won’t seek re-election in battleground district

Representative Don Bacon, who is earned by the Republican Party in the Republican Party area from the main battlefield area, announced on Monday that he will not seek to re -election next year.

“After 30 years in the Air Force and 10 years in Congress, it is time to spend my future with the love of my life, our four children, and our wonderful grandchildren. Thank you, Nebraska!” Declared bacon on Monday.

The Bacon Declaration comes at a time when Congress operates the additional work to pass the “Grand and Beautiful Bill” of President Donald Trump through the deadline imposed on July 4. Through the reconciliation process, Megabill seeks to provide the president’s main promises to the campaign, including tax cuts, immigration reform and energy production.

The moderate Republican built a reputation to mix the Trump agenda in the House of Representatives. While Bacon finally voted with his Republican colleagues to pass the Great Great law Law last month, the Republic of Nebraska had concerns about the effect of proposed medical aid discounts.

Earlier this month, bacon indicated that he would vote against the White House’s proposal to reduce the AIDS relief program. Last month, he was the only Republican who voted against the draft law of the House of Representatives to make a change of Trump’s name in the Gulf of America always. Bacon, a loyal supporter of Ukraine, criticized Trump’s position in his war with Russia.

In his area, former Vice President Kamala Harris won five percentage points in 2024. Nebraska is one of only two states whose votes are divided into the electoral college in the presidential elections by the province of Congress.
