GOP demands answers from Walz after viral video exposes alleged daycare fraud

Politicians took to social media Saturday to criticize Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz after a widely circulated video raised questions about a daycare center in Minneapolis that allegedly received millions of dollars in state funding even though it appears largely inactive.
In response to an X post highlighting allegations of Somali Medicaid fraud and voter fraud in the state, Vice President J.D. Vance called the situation “a microcosm of immigration fraud in our system.”
“Politicians like it because they get power. Welfare scammers like it because they get rich,” Vance wrote. “But it’s a zero-sum game, and they’re stealing money and political power from Minnesotans.”

Representative Mike Lawler, Republican of New York, called for Minnesota Governor Tim Walz to be held accountable.
“People should be arrested, prosecuted, and the Governor of Minnesota should be held accountable,” Lawler said in a tweet on X on Saturday. “congress must immediately hold a hearing and start getting answers.”
A 42-minute video posted by freelance reporter Nick Shirley to X and YouTube on Friday shows Shirley and another man visiting several child care centers in the blue state, including a location on Nicollet Street in Minneapolis.
The footage shows no visible activity at the site, which displays a misspelled sign saying “High Quality Education Center,” even though the center is supposed to house 99 children and receive nearly $4 million in state funds.

Elon Musk expressed similar concerns, accusing the “radical left” of exploiting government programs to attract and retain immigrants in order to “win elections and turn America into a one-party state.”

“The more you look at it, the more horrified you are at what your tax dollars are doing, and the fact that if this is not reversed, your vote will mean nothing,” Musk said in a letter to X. “The most obvious example is the Somali voting bloc in Minnesota, a state that has historically had no Somalis, that elected Ilhan Omar to the US Congress.”
A day earlier, Musk posted: “Trial [Tim Walz]”.
The video went viral this week amid the burgeoning scandal surrounding Walz’s administration that notably involved at least $1 billion missing from alleged social services fraud largely linked to the Twin Cities’ Somali community.

Part of it reportedly ended up in the hands of the Somali terrorist group Al-Shabaab.
Lawler and Walls did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
