With the mid -term elections for 2026 more than a year away, a new survey of Fox News found that although the Republican Party has lost some of the Democratic Party in dealing with major issues, voters are likely to believe that the Republican Party has a clear plan to deal with the country’s problems.

The poll, which was released on Thursday, found that with a margin of 10 points, more voters believed that Republicans have a more clear plan for the United States than Democrats: 43 % compared to 33 %. However, the majority does not feel that the Republican Party (54 %) or Democrats (64 %) have a plan. This is where the feelings were three years ago, the last time the question was asked.

More Republicans (79 %) of Democrats (51 %) are confident that their party has a clear plan, and this hurts the Democrats. While at least two thirds of the independents do not feel any of the parties a plan, more confidence in the Republican Party (30 % compared to 25 %).

At the same time, the poll shows some great corrosion in dealing with the Republican Party with major issues compared to the recent times that Fox requested in 2023, including in the areas they prefer traditionally.

Voters consider that the Republican Party is more able to deal with national security (by 14 points), immigration (+6R), government spending (+5R) while the Democratic Party is preferred to change climate (23 points), health care (+19D), social security (+17D), education (+15D), and energy policies (+6D).

The parties are categorized about inflation equally (+1D), arms policy (even), economics (+1R), and foreign policy (+3R).

Compared to the year 2023, the Republican Party’s support is 4 points, national security by 6, government spending by 6, foreign policy by 9, and economy by 14. In addition, the 12 -point Republican advantage of inflation, as Democrats have one edge today.

While the Democrats have largely maintained support on their best issues, it is worth noting that they have seen an increase in 12 points in education, as voters were divided into those who will deal better with the issue during the past few years.

These transformations can be often attributed to the fact that the self -identified Democrats are playing their preference to deal with his party with issues, as well as reducing independents from their support for the Republicans or the transition to Democrats.

Self -determined Republicans continue to express high levels of support for their party on issues.

“The independents and even some Democrats were tense to President Biden and Democratic congress by 2023 and 2024, but they moved to the left a little in 2025 in response to President Trump’s policies and the Republicans,” says Republican Darwin Show, who is conducting a news survey in Fox Chris Anderson. “A tangible part of this is linked to performance. Without clear victories of economic and external policy, independents and democratic democrats can drift to the left, which may defend electoral dynamism until 2026.”

In general, the opinions of both major political parties under the water. By two points, the Republican Party has a slightly better classification (favorable 44 %) of the Democratic Party (42 %), but more than half looks at both sides negatively (56 % and 57 % uncomfortable, respectively). This has not changed relatively since April.

The positive views of the Republican Party showed steady growth since October 2019, while the Democratic Party was on a declining path, as it reached the lowest record in April (41 % favorable).

The Republican Party has more support among party believers (83 % have a favorable view) of the Democratic Party (78 % favorable). Seven out of 10 independents have a negative vision of both.

It was conducted from 18 to 21 July 2025, under the supervision of Beacon Research (D) and Shaw & Company Research (R). The Fox News survey includes interviews with a sample of 1000 registered voters who were randomly chosen from a national voter file. The respondents spoke with direct interviews on the ground lines (114) and mobile phones (636) or completed the survey on the Internet after receiving the text (250). The results based on the full sample have a margin of sampling error from ± 3 percentage points. An error in taking samples for the results between the sub -groups is higher. In addition to the error of sampling, the formulation of questions and demand can affect the results. Weights are generally applied to the variables of age, race, education and the region to ensure that the population composition of the respondents represents the registered voter residents. Sources of developing weight goals include scanning American society, analyzing Fox News to voters and voter file data.
