Canada’s prime minister says tariff talks will have to wait until after the election

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said that the United States and Canada “will start negotiations on a new economic and security relationship immediately after the federal elections.”

“The suspension of mutual definitions announced by President Donald Trump is a welcome to the global economy,” says Carney’s publication to X on Wednesday.

Trump wrote that more than 75 other countries called on American actors to “negotiate a solution” of topics related to trade, commercial barriers, definitions, currency manipulation and non -cash tariffs. He added that these countries, “based on my strong proposal”, did not take revenge in any way against America.
