Haney Promises ‘New And Improved’ Version Vs Brian Norman Jr
Devin Haney says it “Now and improved version” of himself heading into his fight against WBO welterweight champion Brian Norman Jr. in two weeks on November 22 in Riyadh.
Lessons from Garcia, Loma and Linares
Haney (32-0, 16 KO) said he learned from his fights against Ryan Garcia, Vasiliy Lomachenko, and Jorge Linares. Those were three of the most brutal fights of Haney’s decade-long professional career. He remains undefeated in his main support bout against Norman Jr. (28-0, 22 KOs) on DAZN PPV at ANB Arena.
Can Haney handle Norman’s power and pressure?
These are the things fans want to know about former two-division world champion Haney. He’s facing the oldest boxer at 147 years old, coming off a show that gave the impression he was still dealing with the mental remnants of his war with Ryan Garcia.
The pressure that Norman Jr. will put on Haney will be intense because that is how the Georgia native fights. He’s the type of fighter who wants revenge when he gets hit by anything, even punches. Therefore, Haney will have to move frequently and continue to neutralize Norman’s attack.
Study of Norman customs
“We’ve been studying Norman. We know what he does well. We know what he doesn’t do well. It’s up to me to go out there and exploit that and disrupt what he does well. Just show the world I’m that guy at this next level,” Devin Haney told Fighthype.
Norman is at his best when he’s at close range. He gets maximum torque from his shots and is lethal with both hands. His heavy muscles get in the way of generating power with punches thrown from a distance. This prevents Norman from using his reach advantage in his fights.
“I can’t wait until November 22 to show that I’m a lot better than Devin Haney from the Ryan fight. Devin Haney is a lot better than he was in [Jose] Ramirez fight. I’m a much better fighter than I was in the Linares fight. I am a new and improved version. “Every fight, I want to get better and better,” Haney said.
Devin should be nervous about this fight because it could ruin his chance of getting a rematch with Ryan Garcia. If Haney is eliminated or if he looks bad escaping Norman Jr., it is doubtful that Turki Al Sheikh will want to take on the Garcia-Haney fight.
