Hegseth quips ‘99.9’ percent of DEI initiatives are gone from the military

Defense Minister Beit Higseth mocked that the Trump administration had eliminated “99.9 %” of diversity, fairness and integration initiatives (Dei) from the army during the cabinet meeting on Thursday.

President Donald Trump Higseth asked whether the army had eliminated 100 % of Dei’s efforts under its leadership, as the cabinet members shared updates in their agencies’ attempts to purify such policies.

“99.9, sir – I will get this last point,” said Higseth.

The Trump administration has revealed multiple initiatives to reduce Dei’s initiatives within the army, including signing an executive order in January, preventing sexually transmitted persons from recruiting and serving the army.

However, two federal judges issued judicial orders in the country in March to prevent the Trump administration from enforcing the ban while the lawsuit is suspended. In a ruling issued on March 19, American boycott judge Anna Reyes from Washington, DC, said that the Trump administration was “mired in Animus”, and was discriminated against the status of the transgender of the person.

“In fact, the harsh paradox is that thousands of transgender soldiers have sacrificed – some of them risk their lives – to ensure very equal protection rights that the military embargo seeks to deny,” Reyes wrote in the decision.

Trump has signed another executive in January that prohibits the DEI content in the K -12 schools that receive federal funds. While military service academies were originally exempt because they were not classified as K-12 institutions, the Pentagon issued instructions to the Maritime Academy to remove books related to Dei from its library in March.

It included a list of approximately 400 PURGED “How to be hostile to racism” and “Sealed from the beginning: the final date of racist ideas in America” ​​by IBRAM X. Kendi, as well as “Our Time Now: Power, Purpose, and Fair Americana”, by Georgia Stacey Abrams.

Higseth explained that the Pentagon will not tolerate any Dei initiatives under his watch.

“The president’s guidelines (legal orders): no more Dei in Deptofdefense,” Higseth said in a post on X, previously, in January. “The Pentagon will immediately comply. No exceptions, name changes or delay.”
