Here’s what happened during Trump’s 18th week in office

President Donald Trump has talked with Russian President Vladimir Putin about ending the war in Ukraine, hosted the President of South Africa at the White House and threatened the most stringent definitions against the European Union this week.

During the visit of the Oval Office in South Africa, on Wednesday, Trump entered into an exchange with the leader of South Africa about the treatment of white farmers there. Specifically, Trump broadcast a video clip that showed white intersections that Trump said nearly 1,000 burial sites for white -African farmers.

Trump has repeatedly confirmed that these farmers are killing and pushing their land.

Trump told Ramavusa at the White House that the burial sites beside the road are visited by those who want to “pay the respect of their family members who were killed.”

“This is now very bad. These are burial sites here. Burial sites – more than a thousand white farmers. These cars are line up to push love on Sunday morning. Each of those white things that you see is a cross. There are approximately one thousand of them,” Trump said. “They are all white farmers. The family of white farmers. And those cars do not lead, they are stopped there to pay respect for the members of their families who were killed. It is a terrible scene.

“Did you tell you where is this, my master?” Ramavusa said. “I would like to know where this. Because this has not seen it before.”

“I mean, in South Africa, this is the place,” Trump said.

“We need to know that,” Ramavusa said.

The White House defended the clip and said that the video was “supported”, after the reports that appeared after the meeting that the cross was from a memorial demonstration after the killing of a couple of white agriculture, not the actual burial sites.

Here’s what happened this week:

Call with Putin

Trump and Putin spoke on Monday to boost peace negotiations that end the war between Moscow and Kiev. The invitation took place a few days after Russia and Ukraine met in Türkiye for the first peace talks since 2022.

After the call, Trump said that the two countries would move towards a ceasefire and pay discussions to end the war. However, Trump indicated that the United States will allow Moscow and Kiev to submit the initiative in negotiations after his invitation with Putin.

“The conditions for this will be negotiated, and it cannot be, because they know the details of the negotiation that no one else realizes,” Trump said at one of the employees on Monday about the truth.

Trump says he can “move away” from Russia-Ukraine’s talks, and consults a “tremendous hatred” on both sides.

In addition, Trump continued to keep the United States away from the conflict this week, describing the conflict as the “European situation”.

“The big species are involved, but I think something will happen,” Trump told reporters on Monday. “And if not, I will go away and will have to continue. This was a European situation. It should have remained a European situation.”

Trump expressed similar feelings on Wednesday when he visited Ramavusa and mentioned: “Not our people, it is not our soldiers … it is Ukraine and Russia.”

“The evils of anti -Semitism”

The White House condemned the deadly attack against two Israeli embassy employees in Washington, DC, on Wednesday, and this incident was described as anti -Semitism.

One of the gunmen opened the fire and killed Yaron Lesinski and Sarah Lin Melgerim as they were leaving at the Jewish Capital Museum. White House journalist Caroline Levitte said at a press conference: The two were planning to engage next week in Jerusalem.

The authorities arrested a man who is a Palestinian supporter who was identified as Elias Rodriguez, 31, from Chicago regarding the attack, according to officials.

In response, Trump and his other administration leaders said that the attacks like these should stop and said that officials will face justice.

“These terrible killings, which clearly depend on anti -Semitism, now! Trump wrote actually social. “Hate and radicalism has no place in the United States of America. My condolences to the families of the victims. It is so sad that such things can happen! God bless you all!”

Levitt later told reporters that she had spoken to Public Prosecutor Bam Bondi and that those who conducted the attack would face the prosecution.

“The evil of anti -Semitism must be eliminated from our society,” Levitte told reporters on Thursday. “I spoke to the public prosecutor this morning. The Ministry of Justice will sue the perpetrator responsible for this to the maximum law. There is no place in the United States of America during President Donald Trump’s era.”

European Union tariff threats

Trump threatened a 50 % tariff lap for imports from the European Union on Friday amid continuous trade negotiations and after closing a trade deal with the United Kingdom

The deal with the UK is the first historical trade negotiation signed after the liberation day, when Trump announced widely dumped definitions of several countries on April 2 on a scale of prices.

The administration later adjusted its initial proposal and announced on April 9 that it would immediately impose a 145 % tariff on Chinese goods, while reducing mutual definitions on other countries and the European Union to the basis of 10 % for a period of 90 days.

“Strong commercial barriers, value -added tax taxes, ridiculous companies, non -cash commercial barriers, cash manipulation, unjustified and unjustified lawsuits against American companies, and more, have led to a trade deficit with the United States on Friday over the European Union.

“Therefore, I recommend a 50 % straight tariff for the European Union, starting from June 1, 2025,” he said.
