House Democrats release new Epstein photos including Trump, Clinton, Prince Andrew
House Democrats released a selection of photos from Jeffrey Epstein’s estate on Friday, including some of Donald Trump, Bill Clinton and former Prince Andrew.
The 19 photos released by Democratic lawmakers to the House Oversight Committee were a small portion of more than 95,000 photos they received from the estate of Epstein, who died in a New York jail cell in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges. The photos released Friday were separate from the case files that the Justice Department is now forced to release, but anticipation is growing as the Trump administration faces a deadline next week to produce the Epstein files that have been a source of conspiracy theories and speculation for years.
The photos were published without comment or context, and included a black and white photo of Trump next to six women whose faces were obscured.
Representative Robert Garcia, the top Democrat on the House Oversight Committee, did not say whether any of the women in the photos were victims of abuse, but added: “Our commitment from day one is to redact any image, any information that could lead to any type of harm to any of the victims.”
White House Press Secretary Abigail Jackson accused Democrats of “posting selectively edited photos with random redactions to try to create a false narrative” and called them part of a “Democratic hoax against President Trump.”
Many photos have already been circulated among the public. Democrats have vowed to continue releasing the photos in the coming days and weeks, as they look to pressure Trump over his Republican administration’s earlier refusal to release documents in the Epstein investigation. Garcia said his staff examined about a quarter of the photos they received from Epstein’s estate, which included photos that were sent to him or that were in his possession.
Garcia added: “Donald Trump now needs to release the files to the American public so that the truth can come out and we can actually achieve some justice for the survivors.”
Trump, who was a close friend of Epstein, said he broke up with him long before he faced sex trafficking charges. Clinton also downplayed his relationship with Epstein, acknowledging that he traveled on Epstein’s private jet, but saying through a spokesman that he had no knowledge of the late financier’s crimes. Clinton was also never accused of misconduct by Epstein’s known victims. However, Republicans on the House committee are pressing him and Hillary Clinton to testify in their investigation.
A spokesman for the Republican-controlled committee also said there was nothing in the documents the committee received that showed “any wrongdoing” on Trump’s part.
Andrew lost his royal titles and privileges this year amid new revelations of his ties to Epstein, although he denied any wrongdoing.
The photo release also included images of right-wing political activist Stephen Bannon, billionaires Richard Branson and Bill Gates, director Woody Allen, former Treasury Secretary Larry Summers, and law professor Alan Dershowitz. The men have denied any wrongdoing in their associations with Epstein, who kept several high-profile figures in his circle of friends.
Amid the earlier release of emails between Summers and Epstein, Summers stepped away from his teaching position at Harvard and faced further repercussions for his standing in academia.
Allen faced accusations from his adopted daughter, Dylan Farrow, that he molested her when she was a child. He denied these accusations.
However, some lawmakers believe that other high-ranking figures could be involved in Epstein’s abuse if the full case files from the Justice Department are made public.
Rep. Thomas Massie, a Republican from Kentucky who was instrumental in passing a bill requiring public release of the files, said it was a good sign that the Justice Department had sought to release grand jury material from multiple courts.
“The materials presented by the grand jury are only a small portion of what the Department of Justice needs to release, because the FBI and the Department of Justice may have evidence that they chose not to submit to the grand jury because the evidence they had would implicate other people, not Epstein or Maxwell,” he said.
