Homeland Security chief Kristi Noem says travelers without REAL ID can fly for now, but may have to deal with extra screening

Travelers who did not receive a real identity card by the deadline for this week received assurances from the head of the Internal Security that they will be able to fly after additional identity tests. Reneel Legit, a university student from West Chester, Pennsylvania, spent hours getting a real ID card and was not happy with that.

“I was here for three hours to get one identifier when I had already had one to last for me about 2029,” Legeit said.

She said, “You have to do it. But it seems like a waste of time.”

The real identifier is a license or identity card issued by the country that is compatible with federalism, which national security says is more secure than identity. It was a recommendation from the September 11 Committee and signed the law in 2005.

The committee recommended government security standards for the driver’s licenses issued by the state and its knowledge. It was supposed to be offered in 2008. The implementation was over and over again.

Besides the need for a real travel identifier locally, people will also need one to reach some federal buildings and facilities.

Lucas Chrome was traveling on Tuesday to San Francisco in business from Newark, New Jersey, and said he was using a passport to obtain security.

“I don’t have a permit that is a real identifier,” he said. “I wonder about the bureaucracy around him. It seems to be attacks on ordinary people, and having to upgrade their licenses and all their identity for something that seems to be really fine.”

At Jackson Drivers Services Office, Mississippi, there were no long queues on Tuesday, and people were getting a somewhat real identity.
