Human-in-the-loop work drives AI powering Alibaba’s smart glasses

Alibaba moves to the smart glasses market with a device that works with its artificial intelligence models, which is part of $ 52.4 billion of artificial intelligence and cloud computing. Quark Ai glasses are the first step in the category of wearable devices, and is scheduled to be launched in China by the end of 2025.

The glasses will work on the large QWEN language model in Alibaba and AI, Quark. Quark is already available as an application in China, but this will be the first time that the company has paired with devices to reach more users.

The Hangzhou -based company was one of the most artificial intelligence developers in China, where models aimed at competing with systems of companies such as Openai. By moving to smart glasses, it joins a growing group of technology players who are betting on wearable devices as the next main computing platform alongside smartphones.

Pay

Quark AI glasses will enter a market that already includes the Ray-Ban smart glasses and a model launched this year by Xiaomi. Alibaba version will provide hands -free calls, music flow, actual time translation, meeting copying, and built -in camera.

Alibaba runs a wide range of services in China and glasses will connect this ecosystem. Users will be able to reach the movement, make payments through Alipay, compare prices on Taobao, and take advantage of other pads -owned platforms such as maps and travel booking.

While the company set some features, it did not reveal the price or detailed specifications.

Data behind devices

Smart glasses such as alibaba depend on artificial intelligence systems that can identify images, explain context and respond to the natural language. The capabilities depend on huge amounts of data called – the information that has been reviewed and marked by humans so that artificial intelligence can.

This process often includes “Hitl” systems, where people offer inputs in the main stages of training and testing. To understand how this works in practice, Artificial Intelligence News Speak with Henry Chen, co -founder of SAPIEN, a company that manages the large manpower distributed to put signs of data. Discuss the misunderstanding, demand for skilled contributors, and how artificial intelligence in China affects the industry.

Mistricious concepts about Halm

One common belief is that Hitl is simply putting signs of data. Chen said it was more complicated, including decisions on edges, ruling calls, and continuous evaluation. He said: “Continuous feedback is what makes Hitl work instead of data groups for one time,” he said.

Another wrong belief is that work is low skills. Chen said that the rise of the industrial intelligence of the industry had created the demand for the experts of two fields such as doctors, lawyers and scientists to contribute to their knowledge.

Sapien works with 1.8 million contributors in 110 countries. For complex tasks such as contextual understanding or visual recognition, quality conservation is very important. Chen said that the company uses the health verification, follow the reputation of the shareholders, and incentives to ensure fixed results.

The growth of artificial intelligence in China and the demand for signs

The artificial intelligence sector in China expands quickly, and the demand for data description requires US levels. While China has its own rules and regulations, Chen said that the types of projects are increasingly similar to those in other major markets.

With such large and dispersed workforce, Sapien uses technology on the chain to make transparent payments and give society an opinion worthy of follow -up to projects. By working without traditional offices, Chen said they avoid some problems in the workplace and focus on rewarding shareholders on the value they provide.

Automation changes a sign of data, but Chen believes that humans will remain central to certain types of work. The tasks that involve cultural differences, mockery, rare diseases, specialized languages, or complex feelings will still need a human review. He said: “Humans will convert the focus towards long length data and new vertical fields,” expecting an increase in the AI’s help while people deal with the most challenging situations.

Sensitive projects, such as IP for large companies or international organizations, require strict controls. Chen said that Sapien Vets and Trains Entertainment Consults, use data and access control items, and follows the compliance rules determined by customers. The company operates under frameworks such as SOC 2 Type 2, GDPR and HIPAA.

We look forward

Since artificial intelligence models become better in learning than unknown data-known as self-supervising learning-some expect that the need to put in place human signs will shrink. Chen sees the role of human shareholders changing instead of disappearance.

“We will develop into a more specialized industry,” he said, noting that Sapien is already making more work to evaluate artificial data and typical outputs. It is expected that future projects will focus on coordinating the unique “terrestrial” truth groups, evaluating artificial intelligence, and providing the experience of the field.

From glasses to broader artificial intelligence race

Highlighting the smart alibaba glasses to what extent the artificial intelligence has moved to daily products. Although it may be one of many devices that can be worn on the market by 2025, a mixture of the internal language model in alibaba, its current services, and the integrity of the devices may make it stand out for users in China.

At the same time, such products depend on a complex supply chain of human experience, from engineers who build forms to shareholders who improve the data they use. Companies like Sapien run behind the scenes, making sure that artificial intelligence systems have the information they need to work more accurately and responsible.

Whether in the form of smart glasses, virtual assistants, or other devices that have not yet been released, the AI devices have become a new way for companies to provide their services directly to consumers. For Alibaba, Quark AI glasses are absolutely the product and a statement about where you see growth – in technology that combines programs, devices and human inputs.
