Where Trump’s Plan to End the War Stands

There is a new hope for the ceasefire deal between Hamas and Israel that can see all the hostages in Gaza have returned and may lead to long -term peace. But there is still a lot in the air, and there are big gaps between the two sides in the main issues.

While US President Donald Trump has expressed optimism that the war may end soon, nothing has been placed in the stone yet, and current negotiators in Egypt are outperforming the details of a possible agreement.

Here is a collapse on how we get here and what we know – and no – no “where there are things.

How did we get here

On Monday, Trump revealed a peace plan in Gaza from 20 points at the White House, while Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu hosted. The plan invites Hamas to release the 48 hostages in Gaza, who are still believed to be alive, in exchange for Israel launching 250 Palestinian prisoners facing life provisions and 1700 Ghazan detainees since the war began. Under the plan, Israel will withdraw its forces in Gaza to an agreed line to facilitate the exchange, before it eventually implemented a gradual withdrawal from the coastal pocket.

Among the steps and other provisions, Trump’s plan also states that Hamas must remove his weapon and stipulate that the group will not play any role in the future rule in Gaza. The proposal is visualized by the daily services in Gaza, which is supervised by a Palestinian transitional committee. An international transitional body, headed by Trump, will supervise this committee as well as the redevelopment of Gaza, and the United States – working with Arab and international partners – immediately by spreading a temporary international stability force in the region.

Although Trump has previously called for emptying Gaza and for the United States, this plan states: “No one will be forced to leave Gaza, and those who want to leave will be free to do so and freedom of return.”

Although the plan contains details that contradict Netanyahu’s declared goals in Gaza, such as presenting a pardon for Hamas members if they commit to peace and put their arms (Netanyahu said he wanted to destroy Hamas), the Israeli Prime Minister announced last Monday that he was before Trump’s plan.

According to what was reported, the reverse reaction that Israel faced helped in a strike targeting Hamas leaders in Doha last month to open Trump’s door to increase pressure on Netanyahu to accept the plan. Trump was also under the pressure of Netanyahu to apologize to Qatar for a failed and controversial strike.

What we know

After Trump warned of Hamas last week that until last Sunday to reach an agreement, the armed group announced on Friday that it had accepted the aspects of Trump’s proposal. Hamas said he was ready to issue all the remaining hostages if “field conditions were met.” Hamas also said it was ready to hand over the Gaza administration to Technocrats.

Hamas made previous performances in the same way, its statement was mysteriously formulated it and did not address the main components of the Trump plan.

But Trump responded positively to the statement of Hamas. Trump said in a position on the social truth: “According to the statement issued by Hamas, I think they are ready for permanent peace. Israel must immediately stop the bombing of Gaza,” Trump said in a position on the social truth.

Behind the scenes, according to what Netanyahu was surprised by Trump’s reaction and looked at Hamas’s statement that he rejected the plan of 20 points, which indicates reports indicating frustration by the American president towards his Israeli counterpart.

But in public places, Israel expressed its support to move forward in the initial stage of the Trump plan. In a statement on Friday, Israel also said it was ready to move forward in the “first stage” of Trump’s plan to “immediately release all hostages.” But Israel has not made any firm obligations to a ceasefire.

Israel also said it would focus on the defense operations in Gaza and stop efforts to take over Gaza City. On Saturday, Trump expressed his appreciation that Israel “temporarily stopped the bombing.” But the Israeli strikes continued in Gaza, and dozens have been killed in the region since Friday, according to the Ministry of Health in Gaza.

Indirect talks are now between Israel and Hamas in Egypt to conclude the rest of the details. Trump said these discussions may take “a few days”, and he continued to pressure both sides to pick up negotiations quickly.

Talks are taking place in the city of Sharm El -Shiki Resort Resort Resort. The negotiating team in Israel is leading the Minister of Strategic Affairs, Ron Dimer, while the Hamas delegation will lead the senior negotiator, Khalil Al -Hayya. International intermediaries are expected to be from the United States, Qatar, Egypt and Turkey present.

Trump sent us a special envoy to Steve Wittakov and Jarid Kushner, Trump’s son -in -law and former chief advisor, to participate in the talks. Kushner, who served in a more formal and general role in the first Trump administration, helped, but continues to adhere unofficial, in drafting the 20 -point peace plan with former British Prime Minister Tony Blair.

Although Trump’s plan for Gaza is very wide and turns into many future issues, the talks in Egypt are expected to start focusing on an initial stage of the ceasefire, including hostage exchange and partial withdrawal of Israeli forces.

What we do not know

The largest anonymous is whether the negotiations in Egypt, which started on the eve of the second anniversary of the beginning of the war (October 7), will lead to an agreement.

The international intermediaries have tried and failed months ago to reach a new agreement after a two -month ceasefire collapsed in March and Israel resumed air strikes. Although both Israel and enthusiasm blamed the other in the dilemma, the reality is that both sides played a role in preventing progress in a new agreement to calm down and exchange hostages.

But there is a great momentum surrounding these talks compared to previous negotiations, as Trump raised pressure on both parties to end the war. However, none of the two sides seem keen to take the first step.

Although Dermer was exploited to lead the Israeli delegation, he has not yet traveled to Egypt and has not even gone “a later stage.” This can indicate that Israel wants to know if there are initial breakthroughs before sending the skin.

Israel also indicated that it is ready to intensify the war if the hostages are not launched. If Hamas refuses to launch the hostages, the Israel Defense Army [Israel Defense Forces] Defense Minister Israel Katz said on Sunday:

However, the United States is optimistic with caution about the possibilities of an agreement. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Sunday that this is “the closest we have reached to issue all hostages.”

But there are many details that must be worked on, including exactly how to return the hostages. On Sunday, Rubio acknowledged that logistical services are in this difficulty, especially because Gaza is a war area destroyed for two years of fighting. It is not clear whether enthusiasm knows even where all hostages are, whether they are alive or dead, currently. Hamas said that some of the hostages may be buried under the rubble.

There will also be disputes over the Israeli withdrawal line in Gaza, as well as the timetable for withdrawal. So far, mysterious details have been provided only in the form of Israeli withdrawal.

Trump participated on Saturday, a post on Truth Social, with a map displaying the initial cloud line that Israel agreed, which he said was shared with Hamas. He said that after the ceasefire starts and the hostages and prisoners are exchanged, the conditions for the next stage of withdrawal will be created.

Hamas wants the Israeli forces from Gaza, but Netanyahu indicated that the full withdrawal is not a discussion – which makes this among many issues that can throw cold water on the negotiation process.

We also do not know whether Hamas will sign an agreement that requires disarmament and play any role in the future Gaza governance. Hamas did not deal with its arms in a statement on Friday on the Trump plan. Although Hamas said it was ready to hand over power to a technocratic body, it also did not rule out playing a role in the post -war government in Gaza.

If Hamas is unwilling to settle on these issues, it can raise negotiations and welcomes the Trump plan. Israel and the United States have constantly emphasized that Hamas cannot keep power in any way and must be removed as a threat.

Trump acknowledged during the weekend that there is likely to be “some changes” on the plan in the context of negotiations, but he also said that Hamas would face “blur” if he does not give up power.

The issue of the Palestinian state is still in the air. Netanyahu has repeatedly said that Israel is opposing the establishment of a Palestinian state, describing it as a threat to Israel. But Trump’s plan, in theory, leaves the door open for a solution from the two countries. Negotiations in Egypt focus on addressing hostage exchange and ceasefire first, but such issues indicate the main tensions that develop discussions-with the possibility of throwing the key to the entire process.

It is also unclear what the deal will mean for the future of Netanyahu’s political future. Netanyahu is leading a flimsy alliance, and some right -wing members have threatened repeatedly to leave the government if he moved forward with a plan to end the war. But opposition leader Yar Lapid said that he offered Netanyahu the necessary political support to know this plan if the Prime Minister agreed to set a date for the elections. Meanwhile, Netanyahu is also in trial due to corruption charges.

For more than a year, Netanyahu was subjected to allegations of continuing the war in Gaza for personal reasons and political survival. If he does not move forward with Trump’s plan, Netanyahu may face a general violent reaction in Israel – showing that the majority of Israelis want to end the war and hostage.

It also made the war in Gaza Netanyahu internationally. There is an international judicial order in the Criminal Court to arrest Netanyahu with the alleged war crimes in Gaza. Under his leadership, Israel has become increasingly isolated from the global community as it faced global criticism about its dealings with the war – including the widespread mail charges. While the United States is still an ally of Israel, Trump has clearly lost its patience with Netanyahu. The ballot shows that Americans have increasingly negative views with Israel as the war in Gaza continues.

Netanyahu faces pressure on all sides – and returns to an angle. It is also the tallest prime minister in the history of Israel and a political survivor. However, it remains an open question if both can remain the presidency of his ministers and the Trump peace plan.
