Apple has alternatives; govt monitoring return of Chinese techies from Foxconn: Report

According to a report at the PTI news agency, which transmitted the sources, Apple has alternatives to managing the position, which is primarily between Apple and Foxconn. Most of the equipment used to manufacture mobile phones is obtained from China, and Chinese professionals have experience in dealing with them.

Apple plans to increase iPhone to 60 million units this year, an increase of 35-40 million units previously produced. This is part of the Apple Initiative, CEO Tim Cook reported to charge all iPhone devices sold in the United States during the quarter of India.

Foxconn runs its iPhone assembly in Tamil NADU, along with Tata Electronics, another key manufacturer. Both companies expand their productive capabilities by establishing new factories to support the increasing production goals in Apple.

In the fiscal year ending March 31, 2025, Apple raised 60 percent of iPhone devices in India, with an estimated value of $ 22 billion. This is in line with an analysis by S& P Global, which is noticed that iPhone sales in the United States amounted to 75.9 million units in 2024.

Apple exports from India are mainly directed to the United States, representing 81.9 percent of the phones that were exported in early 2025. This number increased to 97.6 percent in March, reflecting a strategic response to the expected high tariff.

The fiscal year 2025 witnessed that IPHONE devices worth 1.5 rupees were exported from India, which confirms the increasing impact in the country on the global smart phone market. Apple’s ecosystem in India is a major origin in jobs, with about 200,000 people in various sellers.
