Egg prices drop 61% since January, now $2.52 per dozen after March peak

The price of eggs decreased slightly over 61 % since president Donald Trump took office in January, after it rose to the highest level in March.
The latest data from the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) shows large shell eggs, now with an area of $ 2.52 per ten at the national level. On January 21, egg cars itself was running an American with about $ 6.49, according to the economics of the data trading.

Analysts at the time said that the weakest demand and goal in new cases of bird flu helped calm prices.

In the same month, Reuters reported that the United States has increased the imports of eggs from Turkey, Brazil and South Korea in an attempt to increase supplies amid the outbreak of the persistent bird flu that has killed nearly 170 million chickens, left Rumi and other birds since 2022.
Since the outbreak of the disease began in 2022, bird flu has affected more than 166 million birds, including 127 million layers of eggs. This is equivalent to the average loss of 42.3 million eggs annually, or about 11 % of the average annual layer inventory for a period of five years of 383 million chickens since the outbreak of the disease began, according to Burnet Nelson, an economist at the American Farm Office.

The inspection service on animal and plant health at the US Department of Agriculture (Aphis) confirms that the effects of the outbreak continue today.
“Until now, the US Department of Agriculture Aphis 43 have confirmed the floral herds of 10 states (AZ, CA, IA, IN, MC, OH, PA, SD, and WA),” said an overview of the egg markets.
