India calls US trade talks ‘positive’ amid Trump’s 50% tariff tensions

On Tuesday, India described its latest commercial talks with the United States as “positive” after tensions late last month when President Donald Trump put a 50 % tariff on Indian imports.
While the details of the talks are still unclear at this time, a statement issued by the Indian embassy in Washington, DC, said that the discussions were varied and “asphalt” as the two sides are looking to divide bilateral trade.
“It was decided to intensify the efforts made to achieve the early conclusion of a commercial agreement useful for both parties,” the statement added.

The high tariffs in India and the United States were already felt, where exports to the United States fell to $ 6.86 billion in August, a decrease of $ 8 billion in July, according to the Ministry of Commerce data on Monday, Reuters said.
