India not too worried about Trump’s tariff move, will respond only at negotiation table: sources

government sources have told that US president Donald Trump announced a 25 % tariff and not planning for revenge. “India will not be divided from this. Silence is the answer,” said a source. “Whatever we do, we will do on the negotiating table.”

The response comes from New Delhi after Trump announced a 25 % tariff for all goods imported from India, as of August 1, along with an unlimited penalty related to India’s trade with Russia. Despite the escalation, Indian officials pointed to a size approach.

They drew a historic perspective to emphasize confidence in the current global position of India. “When we conducted nuclear tests, many sanctions were placed on us. Then, we were a small economy. Today, we are a self -sufficient economic power, why should we feel anxious now?”

The Minister of Trade and Industry of the Federation also confirmed that the government is evaluating the situation and involving stakeholders. He said during his speech in Luke Sebha: “The Ministry of Trade and Industry is holding talks with exporters, industries and all stakeholders and gathering information about their evaluation of this issue.”

Joyl added: “The government gives a top priority to protect the welfare of farmers, workers, businessmen, industrialists, exporters, hearts, blood vessels and stakeholders in the industrial sector. We will take all the steps necessary to protect our national interest.”

Trump, in his remarks earlier this week, sharply criticized the commercial position of India and his relations with Russia: “I do not care about what India is doing with Russia. They can transfer their dead economies together, for everything I care about,” he said. “We have done very little with India, and the definitions are very high, among the highest rates in the world.”

This announcement was particularly amazing because it came just one day after Indian officials confirmed that the American Trade Team would arrive in New Delhi from August 25 to negotiate a wider trade deal. Trump’s comments in diplomatic circles have been seen as a tactic to pressure India in making concessions, similar to recently secured deals with Japan, the United Kingdom and the European Union.

Trump also attacked India’s membership in the Brexes and suggested that the mass be aligned with the United States:
“The Brexes … is an attack on the dollar and we will not allow anyone to attack the dollar,” he said, adding that the import of India from crude oil and Russian defense is unacceptable.

India, however, is expected to adhere to a cautious and calibration line. The second largest Russian oil buyer appeared after China, as Russian crude now represents approximately 35-40 % of the import basket, with an increase of only 0.2 % before the Ukraine war.
