NFL Star Cam Newton’s Family Includes 9 Kids With 3 Women

Former NFL star Cam Newton He loves his role as a father.

“Fatherhood was great….I’m not as bad as I thought!” Newton joked in a 2017 interview with Yahoo! entertainment. “It’s something that no one can really prepare for, but for me, I just want to be available and it’s helped me become a better man.”

The athlete is the biological father of seven children, but has taken on the parenting role of two of his ex-girlfriends’ children from previous relationships. Newton and his girlfriend, Jasmine Brown, welcomed their second child, their ninth, in 2025.

Kia Proctor

Newton shares four children with his ex-girlfriend, Proctor. The athlete also helped raise her eldest daughter, Shakira – born in February 2007 – whom she welcomed in a previous relationship. (Newton referred to Shakira as his “first child” in a 2017 Instagram post, which has since been deleted.)

The former NFL star and Proctor split in 2020, after she discovered he was being unfaithful.

“I was never married but the relationship, I thought it was heading towards marriage and then my partner at the time had a third-party child,” Proctor shared in a September 2024 YouTube video, apparently referring to Newton. “He had a child outside of our relationship and I wasn’t okay with it.”

She continued: “We weren’t married so I don’t think I was about to deal with this because I thought that this – what we had – was something more special than the way he handled it and I felt like I had no choice but to leave. I had to make a choice for me and my kids over what was about to go through me.”

Newton’s first child with Proctor, a son named Chosun, was born in December 2015. The athlete wrote a letter to his eldest son, published by Players Tribune In January 2017.

“Don’t be like me, son, be better than me,” Newton wrote in part. “And create your own inspiration. So, you won’t expect something from nothing, just hard work and persistence.”

Newton appears to treat his relationship with Shaw as a “human error,” leading him to have a child outside of his relationship with Proctor.

Brown announced in October 2023 that she was pregnant. Her daughter with Newton, whose name has not yet been revealed, was born in February 2024.

“I proudly say I have 8 kids. Six of them are biological through me. And I don’t believe in stepchildren. What my biological kids get, everyone gets. I don’t have any favorites. I’m raising kings and queens,” Newton said during the “Club Shay Shay” podcast in April 2024.

Just over a year after giving birth to their daughter, Brown announced that she was pregnant with Newton’s ninth child.

“Feeling all the love, kicks and elbows,” she captioned an Instagram post in May 2025, celebrating Mother’s Day and revealing her baby bump. “Salutations to our growing tribe.” Newton confirmed in October 2025 that their son had arrived.

Brown and Newton welcomed their first child, a girl, in February 2024. They have yet to publicly announce her name.
