Trafford’s return to Man City fulfilled a dream that he was returning to his former club.

England goalkeeper U21 said: “Re -joining the city is a special moment and proud for me and my family.

“This is where I call the house – it’s a really private football club with great people who make it a unique place to work and play.

“I am also very excited and I am honored to give me the opportunity to work under PEP and with a group of global players.

“I am still very small and hungry to continue learning and improvement – and I know that there is no better environment than Manchester City to help make me the best goalkeeper I can be on.

“I can’t wait to play in front of the amazing city fans for the first time and I will do my best to help this wonderful club searching for more success.”

Trafford joined the City Academy in 2015, but after loans in Akrington and Bolton, the need for regular football in the first team – with Esrson, who is still replaced by the Al -Ittihad stadium – was still to the grass Moore.

He added: “When I had the opportunity to go to Burnley, I thought it was the right step for me at that moment, and in the long run, I was supposed to go back here. I am happy because I achieved it.”

Trafford, who will wear the first shirt, has become the sixth signing of the club in the summer after Rayan Ait-Nouri, Tijjani Refenders, Marcus Bettinelli, Rayan Cherki and Sverre Nypan.

“James is really one of the most accomplished young goalkeepers in the English game, and we are pleased to welcome him in Manchester City,” said the city’s sports director, Hugo Viana.

“We feel that it is ideal for this team and will achieve great quality for the goalkeeping department.

“We fully believe that it will be truly successful and better goalkeeper for Manchester City and the national team.

“I have no doubt that working with PEP and technical staff here in the city will only see James developing his capabilities.”
