Meta Poaches OpenAI Scientist to Help Lead AI Lab

Mark Zuckerberg has OpenAi high -level researcher to be the Meta SuperIntelligence Labs (MSL) search manager (MSL). Yang Song, who was previously led to the Openai strategic exploration team, is now offering to Shengjia Zhao, an Openai’s last youth who supervised the loud AI’s effort since July, according to multiple sources. It started earlier this month.
The move comes after Zuckerberg went in the event of an employment earlier this summer, bringing at least 11 researchers from Openaii, Google and Anthropic.
Song has been in Openai since 2022. His research there focused on improving the ability of models to process large and complex data collections across different methods. While he was still a highly studied student at Stanford University, he developed a penetration technique that helped inform the development of the Dall-E2 photo generation model from Openai. Both Zhao and Zhao University attended the University of Tsinghwa in Beijing as university students, and worked under the same counselor, Stefano Ermun, while pursuing a doctorate in Stanford.
In a note at the level of employees sent this summer, Zuckerberg described his impressive biography of Zhao as Cocreator for Chatgpt, GPT-4, all small models, 4.1 and O3 in Openai-but he did not specify the role of the new Zhao in Meta. In July, Zuckerberg wrote in a broom post that although Zhao “founded the laboratory” and “our main world was from the first day”, Meta decided “to give the official character to his leadership role” as the chief scientist in the laboratory. The move came after Zhao threatened to return to Openai, and even go to the extent of signing of employment documents, which were previously reported.
A small number of researchers have left the Meta Superinteigence Since the initiative was announced for the first time in June. Two employees returned to Openai, who was previously reported. One of these researchers went on the plane, but they did not appear on the first day of their work in Meta.
Another researcher of artificial intelligence learned Aurko Roy, as he left Meta in July, and he learned Wire. He worked at Tech Giant for only five months, according to his personal website, who also says he is now working on Microsoft Ai. Roy did not immediately respond to a request to comment from WIRED. Yang Song, Openai and Meta did not immediately respond to a request from Wire.
Song joins a busy field of great artificial intelligence in the increasingly complex Amnesty International Department. When Zhao was appointed in July, some speculated that Yan had replaced Yan to be, the chief artificial intelligence scientist in Meta. In the LinkedIn post, Lecun explained that it has remained a large Amnesty International Science in Facebook Ai Research (Fair), a long -term artificial intelligence research laboratory.
