Jessie J Reveals How Ex Channing Tatum Reacted to Reference in New Song

Jesse J She greeted her ex-boyfriend Channing TatumBlessing to sneak a Magic Mike A reference to her new album.

“I played him the song to see if he was okay with it and he was,” Jessie, 37, said. The Guardian in a profile on Saturday, November 29 when she was asked about the reference to Tatum’s 2012 dance film to her “complicated” track.

“Complicated” is one of the songs from Jesse’s sixth album, Do tease me with good time.

“2017 passed because I wanted/2018 to be mine and to be honest,” she sings. “I Met Magic Mike, will it ever be forgotten? Because everything they write / That’s the title and the subject.”

“Yes, I think there’s probably a little bit of that in there,” Jessie admitted. “But it wasn’t just about him. I dated a lot of guys when I was in L.A. and there were a lot of guys who would say, ‘Yes, get on my motorcycle and I’ll guide you everywhere,’ and then they’d drop you off. That’s the downside of L.A.”

Jessie lived in California for ten years before returning to her native England last year.

“It was a really amazing, selfish life, but it wasn’t the kind of life I could sustain with a child and a partner,” she recalls. “When I had it [my son] Skye, I thought I didn’t want to raise my son away from his immediate family. My partner is Danish, so we wanted to be closer to Denmark as well.

Jessie was dating a basketball player Channan Coleman Since 2021, they welcomed their son two years later.

“I just felt like the new chapter was going to be here,” Jessie told the newspaper about leaving Los Angeles in 2024. “It was the day that [president Donald] Trump I elected that I left. It was the day we planned to leave, so it felt right. A lot of my friends are mentally struggling with America right now. …It’s the complete opposite of what I believe in, which is equality and love and for everyone to have the freedom to enjoy the life they want.

Tatum, for his part, is now in a relationship with the model Inka Williams.
