Jobs report: US economy added positions in March as payrolls grew at faster pace

The American economy continued to add jobs in March, and job gains speeded a faster than a month despite economic uncertainty.

The Ministry of Labor announced on Friday that employers added 228,000 jobs in March, above the Economists of LSEG, who expected 135,000 jobs.

The unemployment rate was 4.2 %, slightly higher than a month and above economists’ expectations.

The number of added jobs was reviewed in the previous two months, as the creation of job opportunities in January was revised by 14,000 profits ranging from 125,000 to 111,000; While February was 34,000 from a profit from 151,000 to 117,000. The retail sale added 24,000 jobs in March, as workers return from a strike contributing to the gains in retailers of food and beverages (+21,000), while retail dealers lost 5,000 jobs. The sector has not seen a major change in the past year.

Transport and storage added 23,000 jobs in March, which doubled the average gains over the past 12 months from 12,000. Within the sector, job gains were compensated in the cursing and messengers (+16000) and truck transport (+10,000) partially by loss of jobs in storage and storage (-9000).
