The actress’s explanation for her fashion choice added fuel to the flames that have been burning since the photos went viral. One Instagram user criticized Fox’s thirst to leave a mark so bad that she did not realize how “extremely dirty” this act was and how much damage it would cause to Jackie Kennedy’s family.

“Really, really disappointed to see some of my favorite people liking this,” another follower declared, with a third Instagram user adding that some things are better left alone than trying to justify doing them as an act of heroism.

This frustrated follower added: “For her, it was extraordinary active bravery. For you, it was just attention seeking and terrible disrespect. Do better.”

Other commentators asserted that Fox had completely pulled the move to chase clout and attract attention since it had been getting fewer mentions from the press lately. The conversation also moved to X, where thousands of subscribers ripped apart her antics.

“Julia Fox’s glorification of political violence is disgusting, desperate and dangerous. I’m sure her late grandmother would approve,” Jack Schlossberg, a popular X subscriber and grandson of John F. Kennedy Sr., wrote on his page.

The actress’s perspective on her viral Halloween costume

Fox took to Instagram to share a photo of herself in the outfit, which included a pink and blue skirt suit combo, white gloves, and a pink bowler hat. The outfit was then covered in blood, a reference to the original outfit worn by the former First Lady on the day her husband was assassinated in Texas in 1963.

The actress wrote in the caption that she chose the outfit not as a costume but as a statement, emphasizing Jackie’s bold determination to make sure Americans see the extent of the damage done to the late president and his family.

Fox continued: “The image of the delicate pink suit stained with blood is one of the most haunting juxtapositions in modern history. Beauty and horror. Poise and devastation.”

She praised Jackie’s decision to keep her clothes stained with blood despite pressure to change them, describing it as the ultimate act of bravery and a combination of “performance, protest and mourning all at once.”

In the concluding paragraph of her post, Fox stated that Jackie skillfully used her femininity to expose brutality and demonstrate resistance.

The story behind the inspiration for Julia Fox’s original Halloween dress

Jackie made history in costume when she stood by Lyndon Johnson after her husband was murdered. The former First Lady’s pink outfit, shoes, handbag and socks were wrapped in a towel after the shooting to keep the blood fresh.

Johnson became president shortly after serving as John F. Kennedy’s vice president. As PEOPLE reported, Jackie condemned all advice not to wear the outfit and even went to bed in it.

“Despite these terrible circumstances, she was willing to pose for a photo because she understood what it meant for a nation to have continuity in government,” historian Steve Gillon explained.

Gillon added that Jackie understood that she had a role to play in helping America move into a new era with a different president and administration. The costume was reportedly sent to the National Archives in 1964, and was still in its bloody state.

Always an open book about her struggles and triumphs, the TV personality admitted that wrong motivation fueled her reasons for undergoing plastic surgery. In The Blast’s report, Fox noted that she received these hits to increase her chances of survival, which mostly revolved around pleasing men.

The artist had previously revealed that she had undergone several cosmetic surgeries, including Botox, liposuction, cosmetic peels, and rhinoplasty.

Fox continued that she sometimes looks back and wishes she could turn back the hands of time and become someone who had never touched anything on her body before. In her words:

“I wish I could go back and be that person. I was so attached to this idea that I needed to be attractive to men so I could survive.”

Fox noted that these actions were done out of desperation rather than vanity, and while she may get more work done in the future, she is less focused on doing it to please someone else.
