Cybex recalls multiple car seat styles over concerns harness straps could break

CYBEX recalls a couple of rear infant cars seats on a defect that may lead to not restricting the tapes properly.

The company said it has identified a defect in the safety of the product in the child’s ATON G and ATON G circuit and related travel systems. The affected elements were made between February 20, 2023 and 10 May 2024, and sold in the United States market.

The company said, “When Cybex believes it is justified, he voluntarily takes steps to do so. Based on a strong commitment to safety and improving continuous products, Cybex decided to remember the selection of ATON G and ATON G Swivel Car seats.”

It is not clear that the number of car seats affected by the summons.

The defect includes a softening pin, which can become closed when the seat is not in use if the anchor hooks are bent. The company said that the bending may be the result of the seat sliding or its scraping on a sharp edge, such as a table or meter, or it is likely that the edge of the base of the car seat.

CYBEX noted that although the anchor pin cannot lose when the child is in the seat, the harnesses can be separated when they are not in use if the marina’s hooks are bent, which may lead to the child’s lack of properly restricting in the event of the accident.

The company said: “Care providers will notice any separation from harnessing when a child is secured and a narrow harnessation is verified.”

CYBEX said that all affected owners will be granted a free treatment group, which includes a device that closes the anchor pin, harnessing and harnessing in place, around 4 April 2025.

While waiting for a treatment tool group, Cybex said that the car seats can be used, but the hooks to keep the anchor should be checked each time to get the proper tightness.

The company said it does not recommend returning the car seat to retailers.
