In a big step towards ending the war that lasted years ago, Russian president Vladimir Putin agreed to a bilateral meeting with Ukrainian President Folodimir Zellinski. White House press secretary Caroline Levitte announced at a press conference on Tuesday. She explained that “if necessary”, there could be a triple meeting that includes the United States after the Putin and Zelinski meeting.
“President Trump spoke with President Putin on the phone, and he agreed to start the next stage of the peace process, a meeting between President Putin and President Zellinski, who will be followed, if necessary, through a triple meeting between President Putin, President Zelinski and President Trump,” Levitte said on Tuesday.
Levitte said that Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Steve Witkev’s envoy will continue to coordinate with Russia and Ukraine to achieve this as soon as possible.
