Kevin Hassett defends Trump tariffs on ABC News

The director of the Economic Council at the White House, Kevin Haysit, doubled the effectiveness of president Donald Trump’s tariff on Sunday, saying that dozens of countries are now seeking to open negotiations and manufacture of the United States prosperous.

Hasait submitted the claim during his appearance on “ABC News” this week with host, George Stefanopoulos. He said that more than 50 countries have already said they wanted to negotiate new trade agreements with the Trump administration since it struck the tariffs last week, although he acknowledged that there may be short -term pain for consumers.

He pointed to the low prices that have been present since China entered the World Trade Organization in 2000, on the pretext that job loss exceeds low prices.

“If the cheap goods are the answer, if the cheap goods will make the real wages of Americans better, the real income will have risen during that time. Instead, it decreased because the wages have decreased more than the prices. So we got cheap goods in the grocery store, but then we had less functions.”

Then Stefanopoulos pressed Haysit to explain why Russia did not target any additional tariff.

“It is clear that there are ongoing negotiations with Russia and Ukraine, and I believe that the president has made a decision not to mix the two issues. This does not mean that Russia is in time, will deal with a different from any other country,” Haysit answered.

“But Russia is one of the only countries, one of the few countries that are not subject to these new definitions, right?” Stephenopoulos pressure.
