Kimi Antonelli: Mercedes driver wows Jenson Button with ‘unbelievable’ Miami Grand Prix Sprint pole | F1 News

Ginson Patton, a former F1 world champion, said Kimi Antonelli had exploded after he took a “incredible” pole for the Miami Grand Bryx race.
On only F1 sixth event, Antonelli extracted a column of McLaren Bayar Baysri and Lando Norris and will get a chance to convert the pole before marriage to a SPRINT victory when the lights come out in Miami on Saturday at 5 pm, live on Sky SPORTS F1.
In 18 years and 250 days, Antonelli broke the former Sibastian Vettel record for the youngest pole column in F1, which was the latter when he was 21 years old.
“It was fast, but directly behind George [Russell]. I didn’t expect that. It was incredible. “He put him on the pole center in the enemy’s race is a special moment in his time,” said Botor, World champion of 2009.
“I saw him with the accident in Monza [when he crashed] This is what I thought about in Kimi Antonelli – incredibly fast but on the edge.
“But this season was completely different from this driver. He is calm, collecting him, goes to his business, progresses slowly, and is always there, and he got points in each race.
“This is not what you do as a new driver. Its consistency blew my mind, but he went” a boom “and gave us speed too.”
Antonelle, who replaced Luis Hamilton in Mercedes this year, is the third younger F1 driver ever, just behind Max Verstapen and Lance Stroll.
Sky SPORTS F1Martin Brundel has already said that Mercedes has “another star on their hands” and was also in the fear of the teenager.
“It is tremendous. What effort from such a young driver,” Brundel said.
“He has no experience in Miami, unlike simulation simulation, came out and destroying the lap. This is a great effort.
“Mercedes saw him many years ago, and he saw him, and they care about him, and they fell on him when he broke the car, he fell into Monza in practice, and here he hints them. This is exciting.”
Davidson: The Monza accident was good in several ways
Antonelle first in Mercedes during the first practice in the Italian Grand Prix last year, but it crashed in the early stages of the session, a day before the team announced that they chose it for 2025.
Sky SPORTS F1Anthony Davidson, a Mercedes simulation driver, believes that Monza has already benefited from Antoni.
“Everyone in the team was enthusiastic about Kimi’s capabilities and shows that the team knows what they were looking for for drivers in the future,” he said.
“Remember that George Russell is a product of the youth drivers program as well. It was a difficult process to go to fill the legend of Luis Hamilton, who was with the team for a long time.
“I feel that the team really sponsors it. It is in the spotlight in a big team, at the sharp end and this is not easy, so you need a lot of support from the team.
“Yes, he had a moment in Monza, but I think this was good in many ways, because he showed what could happen if left in your own devices and the team interacted well after that.”
Antonelli: I got more confidence every week
Antonelle is sixth place in the F1 drivers, where Russell’s Russell team was very strong so far this season.
It was the only rising that did not collide at the opening of a wet season in Australia, where he stormed from 16 to fourth, and got more points and was close to Russell in China, Japan and Saudi Arabia.
“Every weekend I learn widely. Last week, after a break [after Jeddah] “It really helped me collect information, process everything and recharge the batteries, it was really good,” Antonelli said.
“I felt the entire qualification that I was able to take a step in the lap. I am more aware of how to make the consistent warm -up and extract more frames but there is a lot to improve it.
“Every weekend, I feel more confident with the car, and I can play with it more and explore the border. At the same time, I can understand more preparation and give much better notes than allowing the team to improve the car.”
Antonelli cannot overcome the Verstapen record for being the youngest winner of the F1 race ever, as he would need to win one of the three opening events to overcome the Dutch.
However, Antonelli can be more impressive if he can stick to gastrointens in the enemy.
“I will enjoy this moment, but I focus on Saturday because it will be good to repeat this result,” he added.
“McLaren and Ferrari Ward Bull have a strong race but we are very close. It will be important to start a good start, then put a good pace without decomposition [the tyres] too much.”
