Patricia Clarkson says she was ‘paid less’ than men while rising in Hollywood. She plays fair-pay activist Lilly Ledbetter in a new film

Good morning! The second lady of Osha Vans will visit Greenland, the sister of Zuckerberg, launches a new box, and a new movie on activist Ledbetter is located here on the day of equality in wages.
Fine salaries. Lilly Ledbetter strengthened its place on the national political stage in 2008, when it delivered an exciting speech at the Democratic National . The former Judyer employee of Alabama filed a lawsuit against the Tires to discriminate in employment in 1998 after discovering that it was the salaries of less than its male counterparts over its contracts in the company. She initially won more than $ 3 million as compensation from Goodyear, but lost at the appeal and then lost again in the Supreme Court in a technical case – the statue of restrictions on discrimination was designed, because the time limit was calculated from its first salary two decades ago, not the most recent.
LEDIPER became a substitute for the 2008 democratic campaign, and when President Barack Obama took office, his first legislation was the Lailean LEDPER , which closed the gap that prevented LEDPER from winning its case. Although she did not receive any money from Goodyear, she has become a decisive personality that supports democratic causes – and on days like today, a wage is equal, which represents to what extent women have to work to earn what men have done in the previous year.
The Ledbetter trip from the tire worker to the democratic activist in the film is listed NightWhere she plays actor Patricia Clarkson Lidepter. After a recent presentation of the film in New York City, Clarkson told me that she took over the role to help LEDPER to live – and that her struggle has echoed with Clarkson’s experience to fight for the equal wage in Hollywood.
“Oh, I paid less,” she remembers two contracts in the entertainment industry. “I remember his fight, but I had to surrender. I needed a job and I had to work.” It believes that the industry has changed. “Hollywood knows it is under a microscope, and you cannot pay less women than their male counterpart today,” she says. “You can’t.”
The writer and director of the film, Rachel Feldman, was receiving Clarkson, who grew up in New Orleans, where she sought to capture the LEDITER force and its southern identity. Night Together, he is weaved his imaginary photography with some real shots of numbers such as the Supreme Court Judge Ruth Badr Ginsburg and Hillary Clinton and others reflect the effect of LEDIPR. It lists the activity of both Lideppere – including the harassment she faced, from a hotel room looted into a tail on the highway – and her personal life, especially her relationship with her husband. (The film was scheduled for the theatrical release on May 9.
LEDITER died in October 2024, and Clarkson never met them. The actress says, when she plays the role of a real person, she prefers to wait to meet him until she finishes shooting the role, and does not want to become filming her imitation. They were appointed to meet at a cinematic festival last fall, but LEDIPER’s health turned immediately before this event. “It is sad, but I must live with that,” Clarkson says. However, Watch Lidepter the full movie and “I love it”, says Feldman.
“I never wanted to make a political movie. I never wanted to make a movie about a fair wage. I wanted to make a movie about … an ordinary woman who did something unusual,” says Feldman. “I was interested: What is the personal cost of the activity? What cost her family? What cost her?”
