Liddard Stops Conway In DAZN Knockout Night

British and Commonwealth middleweight champion Kieron “Too Class” Conway (23-4-1(7)) was stopped by “Billericay Bomber” George Lydard (13-0(8) at 0:49 of the tenth round of a 12-rounder scheduled for Friday night at York Hall, Bethel Green, London, UK.

Ledard collapses Conway late

In the second round, the shorter Ledard drew blood from Conway’s nose. In the third and fourth rounds of the all-out fight, Lidard had a slight advantage. In the fifth round, Conway came back well enough to take the round. In the sixth round, Conway had swelling under his right eye in a fight with Lidard on top.

In the eighth round, Conway suffered a nosebleed and a small cut between his left eye and nose. In the ninth round, Leddard dropped Conway with a body shot for an eight count from referee Mark Bates.

In the 10th round, Conway’s corner clipped under the right eye, throwing in the towel with Lidard taking a big lead at the end.

Jimmy Sains adds two more belts

Impressive Southern Province champion Jimmy Sinz (11-0(10) stopped South Midlands champion Troy “Hawk” Coleman (14-4-1(6)) after four rounds in a scheduled 10-rounder for the vacant English Commonwealth Silver and BBBofC middleweight titles.

In the first two rounds, Saenz worked his way over Coleman. In the third round, Saints bloodied Coleman’s nose.

In the fourth round, Saines hurt Coleman in the final minute with a left hook to the body, causing him to hold on. At the end of the round, Coleman advised referee Lee Avery to stop.

Shannon Ryan claims International Boxing Federation silver

In main support, former 10-1(2) Shannon Ryan scored a fourth-round injury stoppage of Chloe Watson (8-2) in a 10×2 scheduled for the vacant IBF Intercontinental super flyweight title.

In the first two rounds, Ryan had a slight advantage. In the final minute of the third round, Watson’s right eye closed due to a head collision.

In the fourth round, with her right eye now closed, Watson was given another round by the ring doctor. She had a desperate run, and did her best in a hard-fought losing run. The fight was stopped after the fourth due to Watson’s right eye being swollen from the head collision.

At the time of regression the scores were 40-36, 40-36, and 40-36. Reece Carter was the referee.

Bevan scores a knockout in the fifth round

Middleweight Taylor Bevan (6-0(6)) knocked out tough Lucas Vernezza (6-4(3)) at 1:17 of the fifth of a scheduled eight rounds.

In the first round, the taller Bevan outpointed Vernezza. In the second round, Verneza fought Bevan, and failed again. In the third round, with just over a minute remaining, Bevan landed a powerful jab to Verneza’s chin, which was never stopped, and she shrugged it off. In the fourth round, Bevan had a mark over his left eye, and Verneza had a mark under his right eye.

In the fourth round, the play was good as Verneza fought his way in the final minute to win the round. In the fifth round, just over a minute later, Bevan dropped Verneza with a right, followed by a left hook to the chin for an eight count from referee Sean McAvoy. When Verneza got up, he looked to his corner, prompting referee McAvoy to wave him off while Verneza dropped to a knee.

Buttigieg wins despite bad cuts

Four-time national amateur middleweight champion Emanuel Buttigieg (10-0(3)) defeated Christian “Cocos” Schembri (27-13-1(11) by eight points decision.

In the first round, Buttigieg worked his way up while Schembri moved with his hands at his side. In the first minute of the second round, a head collision caused a wound to Buttigieg’s forehead and to Schembri’s left eyebrow. Buttigieg won the round with blood running down his forehead.

In the third round, Buttigieg faced more than ever against Schembri, who had never been stopped as a fourth-back. With one minute left in the fourth round, the cut on Buttigieg’s forehead reopened, running down his face while he was still taking a close call.

In the fifth round, Schembri was on the move when he stopped and hit Buttigieg, whose chops opened up again. In the sixth round, at times Schembri backed Buttigieg when Schembri came back with punches of his own in a close round.

In the seventh round, Buttigieg had a good round as Schembri appeared to slow down in the final minute. In the eighth and final round, they both had moments showing respect for each other after the bell.

Referee Lee Avery scored the score 79-73.

Tiah Mae Ayton stays perfect at 3-0

19-year-old former amateur world champion and 5-time national champion, Tiah Mae Ayton (3-0(3),) knocked out matchmaker Laura “Altieri” Valdenbenito (8-7-1(2)) at 1:59 of the fourth round of the scheduled 6×2 rounds, scoring a pair of knockouts.

In the first minute of the second round, Ayton shot a strong right shot from the side of the head, knocking down the shorter Valdenbenito, and the referee awarded 8 penalty kicks from referee Sean McAvoy. In the final seconds of the fourth round, Ayton dropped Valdenbenito with a right uppercut to the top of the head for an eight count. With blood coming out of her nose, referee McAvoy stopped play.

Super featherweight Jermaine “God’s Plan” Dhliwayo, 7-0(2) knocked out Victorino Vera (8-9(3)) at 1:23 of the fourth of the scheduled six rounds.

In the first three rounds, Dhliwayo dominated. In the fourth round, Dhliwayo dropped Vera with a body shot as referee Sean McAvoy counted it out.

Featherweight Adam Macca (3-0(3)) stopped Juan Alberto Batista (1-22(0)) at 1:42 of the fourth round.

In the first round, Maka dominated. In the fourth round, referee Lee Emery announced that the match had been stopped in favor of Maka.
