John Boyega Thinks ‘Star Wars’ Could Learn From All That ‘Star Trek’ Talking
As part of what became his soft launch into becoming a critic of popular culture, The Rise of Skywalker Aactor John Boyega has influenced the long-standing rivalry between… star wars and Star Trek. Even though he starred in the sequel trilogy to the first, Boyega says he understands the appeal of the latter, echoing a phrase typical of most. a trip Fans: The importance of balancing talk and work.
Speaking at Dragon Con (thanks Popverse), Boyega didn’t shy away from the fact that he, like most normal people, is double-deep in his love for both series. While the average person might assume Boyega would prefer it star warswith his breakout role as Finn, Boyega says he’s actually more in tune with him Star Trek Because he tends to address his issues instead of… Waving a lightsaber and being active.
“in Star TrekThey give you time to have discussions. I think there is something star wars “I can actually learn from that,” Boyega said. “Regarding my appearance [Star Trek]I have to stay on the team. I’m a lightsaber guy.
This is the latest in a series of Boyega’s observations on a trend star wars And what he would have done differently if he had been in charge. So far he’s discussed the whole “Reylo” situation, dealing with Luke’s latest situation, and not creating new characters OP (read: overpowered) – the kind of garden variety that lends itself well to an hours-long YouTube flashback. Deplorable treatment star wars Actors of color also reared their ugly head when Obi-Wan Kenobi Star Moses Ingram has become the target of fan trolls. This led to Obi-Wan Kenobi himself, Ewan McGregor, standing up to support Ingram, a trend many actors have, stepping in when Disney stands by in situations like this with their shows and movies. Both fanbases certainly have their fair share of dirty laundry which may raise the question of whether the intergalactic grass is greener on the other side. But an argument could be made that a show that relies more on talking about things and centering diversity within its very framework lends itself to having a fanbase that isn’t overtly weird about seeing people of different skin tones as important players in its stories.
But that’s a discussion for another day. Probably after the heat death of the universe, when Star Trek and star wars Fans no longer set fire to which of their series is better.
