Liverpool’s Andrew Robertson in Tottenham transfer talks

Liverpool left-back Andrew Robertson is said to be a surprise transfer target for Tottenham, according to The Athletic’s David Ornstein.

The Scotland international is approaching the end of his contract at Anfield, and it appears that Tottenham are now working on signing him next January.

See Ornstein’s post on X below for details where he says talks are progressing on reaching an agreement…

Ornstein posted: “Tottenham Hotspur are working on an agreement to sign Andy Robertson from Liverpool. #THFC He put forward a plan to compete for 31 years #Liverpool The left-back is a free agent this summer; “It has not happened, but talks between all parties are progressing in an attempt to reach an agreement.”

However, he is not getting any younger and finds himself behind Milos Kerkez in the pecking order this season.

Discussing the matter recently, Robertson admitted it was a role he was not accustomed to, hinting that he could be nearing the end of his time with Liverpool.

The 31-year-old now looks set to be handed an exciting opportunity to continue his Premier League career with Tottenham, who will see this as a quality signing to add quality and experience to their squad.

It has not been Tottenham’s best season, but Robertson could help turn things around for manager Thomas Frank, who is under pressure.

In what is a largely young team, it is easy to imagine an experienced winner and leader like Robertson becoming an important figure on and off the pitch.

It remains to be seen how long this deal will last, but we may yet see Robertson play his final game for Liverpool, unless there is time for a final farewell appearance in this weekend’s match against Bournemouth.
