Judge dismisses fat-shaming allegations against singer as remaining allegations head to trial

Away from the red carpet, Lizzo recently scored a legal victory. A judge dismissed fat-shaming claims in a 2023 lawsuit filed by three former dancers.
In a video posted on social media, the “Good As Hell” hitmaker said the court found no evidence the dancers were fired for being overweight, stating instead that their terminations were related to an unauthorized private recording.
However, the broader lawsuit remains active. Claims relating to alleged sexual harassment will go to trial.
The dancers, Ariana Davis, Crystal Williams and Noel Rodriguez, allege they were pressured to attend explicit performances and interact with nude performers during tours between 2021 and 2023. Lizzo has strongly denied the accusations.
Her legal team tried to block the allegations, arguing that the group tours were part of her artistic process and protected by freedom of expression, but the dancers’ lawyers rejected this, urging the court to allow the case to proceed.
