The Shawn Kemp sentence: He says his truck and cellphone were stolen and he returned fire at the thieves. Nobody was hurt but he’s under electronic home monitoring
Former American Professional League star Sean Kemp was sentenced to 30 days in prison for monitoring electronic homes to shoot two men inside a car in a parking lot in Washington State Mall.
Kemp should start monitoring the house within two weeks, according to the Seattle Times. It should also serve one year of supervision of the state’s Ministry of Reform and complete 240 hours of community service.
Public Prosecutors recommended that he sentenced NBA All-Star six times in prison for a period of nine months, a year of supervision and wages.
Judge Michael Schwartz from the Pierce County Court found that the circumstances surrounding the crime justify a lesser penalty, allowing KEMP to avoid imprisonment.
Kemp looked at the ceiling and detonated a group of air when Schwartz announced the sentence. Then he repeated the cross with his hand.
Kembe, who played with Seattle Superrsonx from 1989 to 1997, admitted that he was guilty of assaulting in May as part of the guilt recognition agreement.
No one was injured in the shooting in March 2023.
Kembe said he acted in self -defense and returned fire after shooting him from the men from inside his Toyota 4runner.
The defense also claimed that the two men shot the shooting by stealing the Kembe truck, his mobile phone and its signs in Seattle. The judge agreed.

After the session, Kemp said in an interview that “the past three years have been difficult.” He said he intends to be an advocate against armed violence, especially among young people.
“Think twice,” he said. “Think twice when you get angry. Think twice when you feel slightly upset.”
Several people sent letters of support to the court on behalf of Kemp. About 30 people attended the hearing, including his priest and former US football Association star Marshon Lynch.
Kemp appeared for the first time in the American Professional League during the 1989-1990 season when he was 20 years old and never played university basketball. He also played with Cleveland, Portland and Orlando and was known for his high cover.
