Longtime House Republican weighs run to flip Dem-held Senate seat in key battleground

Republican MP Bill Hoisenga from Michigan said that as soon as the Democratic senator Gary Peters announced earlier this year that he would not seek to re -election in the battlefield in the major Great Lakes in the middle of next year, “My phone began to ring and did not stop ringing.”
Hozena, who was first elected in the House of Representatives in 2010 and represents the fourth congress area in Michigan, which covers parts of the southwestern part of the state, highlighted that he is “encouraging” to search for the Senate from “popular people”, as well as donors.
“I was very satisfied and honored to get this type of emerging support,” he said.
The Senate in Michigan is a major target for the Republican Party in the mid-term elections for the year 2026 to turn from blue to red, as the party aims to expand its current majority 53-47 in the room. The emerging confrontation is expected to be one of the most expensive battles of the course.

Huizenga, who is now the vice -chairman of the Council’s Financial Services Committee, noted that “the links I have obtained and have accumulated during the last time in my state here” when I was asked about the collection of donations.
“He is given in Michigan. He is nationalist at the national level,” he said. “I have a network of people who have been very useful in the past, and they are very interested in helping me again.”
Will this Blue Republican in the Blue State end the 20 -year -old chain in his term?
But Huizenga is not the only Republican to make noise around a Senate tour.
Former deputy Mike Rogers announced at the end of January that he was “thinking strongly” in a second consecutive Republican race.
Rogers, a former private agent at the FBI, who later held the position of Chairman of the Intelligence Committee in the House of Representatives during his term in Congress, is likely to announce his campaign on Monday.

Rogers won the Senate nomination of the Senate for the year 2024 in Michigan, but he lost a slight difference in front of MP Elissa Slockene, the Democrats candidate, in the November elections last in the race against the Democratic Senator Deby Stepino, who has long retired. Slotkin, which is largely outperforming Rogers, got about 19,000 votes, or a third of a percentage point.
When asked if the campaign was launched by Rogers, he would affect the decision -making process, Hozena said, “Frankly, no.”
“I think that everyone needs to answer is, who can win? Who can win in Michigan, and Michigan’s policy has turned, and this is the reality,” he said.
A battle in the possible Senate in the battlefield, Michigan, rises with the entry of this race to the race
Michigan was once part of the Blue Party’s states in the Democratic Party, which helped strengthen the party’s candidates in the presidential elections. But President Donald Trump carried Michigan with a slight difference in his 2016 and 2024 victories.
“What we do not know is whether the Trump alliance for the families of the Union, the Latin, and the African American and American population, especially males, who came out and supported Donald Trump, along with these independents and Republicans, whether this alliance will be held,” Huzenga said.

Huizenga referred to the margin of his dual -number re -election last year in a competitive home area (his seat is one of 35 seats in the house targeted by Democrats in the middle of next year). Democratic ruler Gretchen and a slightly marginalized her victory in his re -election in 2022, and Trump carried the boycott six points last November.
Why did Buttigieg say no to run for the Senate next year
Trump’s support, which swings to the Republican Party is stronger than ever, is an important role in the preliminary elections for the Republican Senate in Michigan.
Although Trump has not yet ranked, Rogers earlier this year appointed a veteran Republican strategy and coach of the Trump Campaign 2024 Chris Lachevita as a great advisor.

He was asked about his relationship with Trump, Hwenga called it “very good” and claimed that “there is an elected official speaking in all the last three gatherings [in Michigan]In 2016, 2020 and 2024, this is me. “
As for his temporal grandparent, Huizenga said: “I am still going to evaluate here, and I need to use a kind of donation collection and I need to make sure that I am able to get the support I really need to be able to do this type of operation.”
He added: “We are still more than a year of the deadline for the deposit, and so there is a lot of runway here, so I am not in a hurry.” “This must be done soon. But it seems to me, at one time this summer or immediately after the Labor Day, it is more than enough time to ensure that we got the appropriate candidate.”

And what seemed to be a comment directed at Rogers, Huzenga added that “it is better to have the right person in time, instead of someone early.”
Besides Rogers and Huzena, CEO of Business, Conservative Commentator and Republican Governor candidate 2022 Tudor Dixon She said that she is seriously studying another round of the ruler, or for the Senate, in 2026.
It is also believed that the Republican businessman and executive director of the sale of auto Kevin Renck, who was nominated for the ruler in 2022, is considering another operation at the state level next year.
