Man United star Casemiro shares unusual fact about his career

Manchester United midfielder Casemiro recently revealed a surprising and amusing detail: his name was misspelled for most of his professional career.

The Brazilian star, who enjoys a successful career with the Brazilian national team, Real Madrid and Manchester United, confirmed that his real name is not Casemiro.

Casemiro revealed that many of his official lists, whether in matchday programmes, registration documents or club materials, used incorrect spellings of his name.

Obviously, this error was not fully corrected earlier in his career, resulting in a long-standing misrepresentation that is only now being discussed publicly.

The midfielder revealed that his real name is Casemiro, not Casemiro, and that a typo during his days at Sao Paulo led to him changing his name for the rest of his career.

The midfielder revealed that he decided not to correct the error because he played well with the misspelled name on his shirt.

He said in statements to La Repubblica newspaper:

“For everyone, I will always be Casemiro… It’s all Sao Paulo’s fault. It all started when I played one of my first matches for Sao Paulo, the club where I rose through the ranks, from the youth team to the first team.” [from 2002 to 2013]. They accidentally wrote my name with an “e” on the shirt. You played very well.

“I’m a very superstitious person. I said to the club: ‘There’s no need to change that – things are going well.’ It was a one-game mistake, and now I’ll carry it with me forever.
