Man Utd confirm £2bn plans to build biggest stadium in UK

Manchester United confirmed their plans to build a new 100,000 capacity stadium near Old Trafford’s current home.

The architects in Foster and the new stadium partners and the surrounding complex mention the design of a new umbrella and a public square, “twice the size of the square of the parties”, in line with the government’s growth agenda for the local area.

United says that the project has the ability to provide an additional amount of 7.3 billion pounds to the UK economy, and creates nearly 100,000 new jobs and the leadership of 1.8 million additional visitors to the region annually. The construction may be assumed in the area of 2 billion pounds – a large amount of money, and not at least because the Red Devils are currently approaching the debts of one billion pounds.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe said in a statement to the club: “Today coincides with an incredibly exciting journey to hand over what will be the greatest football field in the world, at the Old Trafford Center.

“We have served our current stadium brilliantly over the past 115 years, but it has failed to the best squares in the sports world. By building next to the current site, we will be able to maintain the essence of Old Trafford, with the creation of a really modern stadium that transforms the experience of fans, only steps from our historical home.

“Equally important, the opportunity for a new stadium to be a catalyst for the social and economic renewal of the Old Trafford region, which creates jobs and investment, not only during the construction phase, but on a permanent basis when the stadium area is completed. The government has set investment in the national structure, which is local.

“Our goal in the long run as a club is to get the best football team in the world at the best stadium in the world. We are grateful for the feasibility of the work team to renew the Old Trafford to explore the options of the future of Old Trafford,” added Umar Perrada.

“We carefully thought about its results, along with the opinions of thousands of local fans and residents and concluded that the new stadium is the right path to moving forward in Manchester United and our surrounding society. We will now start consulting another to ensure that fans and residents continue to hear while we move towards final decisions.”
