Manchester United and Ineos are now said to be in internal discussions over the possibility of signing a Premier League star in the January transfer window.

It is an open secret that Manchester United are seeking a midfield reinforcement in the January transfer window after Ruben Amorim picked up one injury in recent weeks.

As it stands, Amorim will be without Bruno Fernandes after his timely injury and has the unreliable Manuel Ugarte and Kobe Maino for call-ups alongside the aging Casemiro. In terms of the hunt for Champions League qualification, to say that these options are far from ideal would be an understatement.

Therefore, INEOS has to work. Before the winter window, Sir Jim Ratcliffe and co. They have reportedly set their sights on Ruben Neves, Adam Wharton and several others.

Neves’ name has been particularly mentioned recently, as he looks to complete a return to the Premier League. Find a way to surpass his Saudi salary and there is no doubt that he could emerge as an excellent solution to Manchester United’s problems.

There are also doubts about Maino’s future. The Carrington University graduate has struggled for playing time since Amorim’s arrival, and after his brother was spotted wearing a ‘Free Kobe Maino’ shirt at Old Trafford, a number of exit rumours emerged.

Reports have suggested that the likes of Chelsea and Bayern Munich have their sights set on Maino, although it remains to be seen if Amorim will decide to block his exit.

If he leaves, James Garner could become a serious option. According to the Daily Mail, INEOS are now in talks about signing Garner from Everton next month.

And of all the rumors that INEOS might cash in next year, Garner represents a bargain. The Everton star is entering the final six months of his current contract on Merseyside and could leave the club as a free agent.

This means the Toffees are likely to only have one last chance to cash in on the midfielder in January, which could allow United to offer a cut-price deal to their own advantage.

The obstacle for United is that Everton are still trying to convince the Carrington graduate to sign a new contract with the club, and manager David Moyes has not kept his admiration for Garner secret.

The veteran coach told reporters earlier this season: “He’s been great since I’ve been coming. I probably didn’t realize how good he was. He’s been very good. He’s been very good.”
