Air India flight returns to Hong Kong days after deadly crash kills 241

Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner turned back and returned to a point of origin after taking off, a few days after the airline was subjected to a fatal accident that killed 241 people on board.

Reuters airline said that the AI315 flight returned to Hong Kong on Monday as a precautionary measure because of a “technical issue”. The trip went to New Delhi before returning safely and underwent checks “as an abundant backup issue.”

The AI315 trip from Hong Kong started at approximately 12:20 pm, reached a height of 22,000 feet and started to drop, according to Airnav Radar Airnav Tracking. The plane is seven years old, according to Reuters reports.

One of the pilots told air traffic monitors about 15 minutes after taking off that “for technical reasons, sir, we would like to stay closer to Hong Kong, perhaps we will return to Hong Kong once the problem is solved,” according to Liveatc.net monitoring recordings reviewed by Reuters.

The pilot said before returning.

On Monday, the president of Air India N. Candrasekaran told the employees that the plane would crash last week should be an incentive to build a safer airline, and urge employees to stay in any criticism.

There was only one survivor of the Boeing 787-8 crash on Thursday, which occurred shortly after taking off from the Indian city of Ahmedabad. The plane was heading to London Gatwick Airport.

Viswashkumar Ramesh, the only survivor, described his “miracle” while talking to DD India.

“I can’t explain,” he said. “When I woke up, there were bodies around me. I was afraid,” I told Ramish Airpport Hindustan times.

Ramish told DD news that he “saw people die,” as reports indicate.

“Air India is still in mourning for the tragic loss of 241 travelers and crew members on board AI171. Our hearts are with families, loved ones and societies affected by the accident,” Air India was published on X on Sunday.
