Mark Zuckerberg Details Meta’s Plan for Self-Improving, Superintelligent AI

The CEO of Meta Mark Zuckerberg has told investors that the newly formed Meta Supertelligence Laborators focus on building the models of Amnesty International that can be self-implemented-in the sense that they can learn from themselves without much human inputs. The notes came during the second quarter profit call.
“At a level, [it’s] Zuckerberg said: “You will not learn from people, because you want to build something smarter than people. This is a very essential thing that will have extensive effects on how to build products and how to manage the company,” Zuckerberg said.
It is one of a handful of comments made by the CEO during the past 12 hours in which he fell to how Meta New Research Lab plans to compete with their competitors such as Openai, Google DeepMind and Fanthropic.
Early this morning, Zuckerberg posted an online speech and shared a video to Instagram rollers in which he said that Meta Supernkligence will focus on building “Superintelligence” that would give people tools to enable them and improve the world. He said: “This differs from others in the industry who believe that the cancellation should be directed central towards automating all valuable actions, and then humanity will live on its outcome.”
Another major piece of AI Meta strategy is SmartGlasses, which Zuckerberg said he believed “will basically be the ideal form of Amnesty International.” Since its first appearance in 2023, Meta has sold two million pairs of smart sunglasses that were made in partnership with Ray-Ban. Last September, the company presented a future preliminary model for augmented reality glasses as well. (It is not expected that the initial model, called Orion, will be shipped to consumers, but Mita said that she plans to build new devices over the next few years based on Orion’s research.)
Currently, Meta seems to distinguish between artificial intelligence that works to liquefy its basic products, such as Instagram, WhatsApp, and Superintyligent Ai, which can one day help in the future of humanity.
Zuckerberg’s comments about Supertelligence came in the wake of a better profit report than expected. The company, which has left its competitors in the artificial intelligence race, spends billions of dollars to build a small laboratory but is strong focused on building AI’s border models.
Since publicly announced the laboratory last month, Meta was in the field of aggressive employment, as it was brought in the main silicon valley such as Alexandr Wang, Nat Friedman, and Daniel Gross, and to provide compensation packages from artificial intelligence to nine numbers to attract them to the laboratory. Wang was part of the “Recovery” deal with Scale AI, a startup for his male data brand. Schengejia Zhao, a former Openai researcher, was appointed head of the new research laboratory in Meta.
Meta reviewed its forecast for its capital expenses for this year, which increased its expectations to $ 69 billion. Susan Lee, employee financial manager, said that compensation for employees is one of the largest engines in it. Despite the amount that the company spends on building its AI products, it also predicts better expectations than expected for the third quarter, and expects revenues between $ 47.5 billion and $ 50.5 billion.
