Melania Trump helps secure $25 million for foster care housing: ‘Essential measure’

First Lady Melania Trump announced on Friday that a 25 million dollar youth investment will be included in the president’s 2026 financial budget.

The money will go to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) of the US Department of Housing (HUD) for the Independence Program to support young people who move from incubator care. This will help provide them with housing, according to a press statement from the first lady’s office.

The first lady said in the release: “I am successfully proud of a $ 25 million to provide housing for individuals who are submitting to nursery.”

She also said: “This is another basic measure that guarantees safety, luxury and independence for those in the nursery society.”

The investment is the seventh anniversary of the “Be Be Bear” initiative for the first lady, which started during the first Trump administration to enhance the well -being of children.

Ms. Trump added: “Minister Scott Turner’s commitment will provide thousands of young people who move from the nursery system through dedicated rented assistance and other supportive services to enhance stability and self -sufficiency.”

“I appreciate the efforts of the first lady, for her commitment to the help of our nation’s youth by being the best initiative and to carry out partnerships between the public and private sectors that change the life of every day,” said Turner.

He added: “This dedicated funding for Foster Youth is a change in games in providing young people by accessing short -term housing assistance and support services, which prevents homelessness.”

President Trump earlier signed a presidential declaration determining May 2025 as a national month for incubating care.

“I am pleased to join my husband in honoring families, care providers and preachers who provide shelter, stability and inspiration for our children,” she said in a statement at that time.

During his first administration, President Trump signed the first family protection services law, which aims to prevent children from entering care by providing funding for evidence -based preventive services.
