Mickey Rourke Faces Financial Troubles As Surgery Approaches

Rourke has been a constant presence in the news over the past few weeks, after reports spread that he was facing eviction from his Hollywood home.

Following the report, fans rallied to raise more than $100,000 for Mickey Rourke, who rejected the six-figure donation in a scathing online video, calling the move “embarrassing” and “humiliating.”

TMZ shared a new report about the “Gladiator” actor, revealing that his dog, Evan, will need expensive surgery. The cost is said to be $10,000, and Evan may need a second surgery that costs between $6,000 and $8,000.

The publication shared that the news is just the latest financial burden Rourke has had to face in recent weeks, as the outspoken public figure was facing eviction from his West Hollywood home after she reportedly fell behind on nearly $60,000 in rent.

According to The Blast, Rourke’s landlord, Eric Goldie, filed paperwork with the actor in December 2025. Legal documents revealed that Rourke began renting the California property in March 2025 for $5,200 per month; But the rent rose to $7,000 months later.

News of Rourke’s financial struggles struck a chord with fans, who rallied together to donate to the “celebrity Big Brother” contestant’s GoFundMe, which was set up by his management team.

“This fundraiser is being created with Mickey’s full permission to help cover immediate housing-related expenses and prevent this from happening,” the campaign description reads. “Mickey Rourke is an icon — but his path, as painful as it is, is also a deeply human one. It’s the story of someone who gave everything to his work, took real risks, and paid real costs.”

It didn’t take long for Rourke to respond to stories about him. In a scathing video, according to The Blast, Rourke condemned the GoFundMe effort and assured his fans that he would not ask them for money. “That’s not me, okay?” He said. “I’d rather, if I need money, not ask for any damned handout. I’d rather put a gun in my hand and pull the trigger.”

Rourke’s spokeswoman, Kimberly Haynes, came forward shortly after the video was posted and took responsibility for the fundraiser. Haynes explained that the GoFundMe was created with Rourke’s approval and was intended to help get the struggling actor back on his feet.

“We said, ‘Mickey, there are some people who want to help you.’ It’s like, “Okay, great.” “I don’t think he understood it, and now this media frenzy has been dealt with and he’s flipped,” Haynes said. “Nobody’s trying to scam Mikey. I want him to work. I don’t want him to do a GoFundMe.”

Hines stated that she has been helping Rourke financially since the news became public. But she implied that the financial support would eventually end. “Maybe he should get this help, because unless he goes back to work, I can only fund him for so long. I’m not a getty. I’m a working woman,” she said.

In a January 15 Instagram post, Rourke expressed his hope to compensate “interested parties” who donated “to the scam to raise money for me!!” Rourke called the campaign a “cruel embarrassment.”
