UC Berkeley target of Trump admin foreign-funding investigation
The Trump administration is coordinating colleges that do not report large foreign donations, as UC Berkeley found the latest goal after the Ministry of Education reviewed to disclose foreign financing of the University of California that it “may be incomplete or inaccurate.”
On Friday, Minister of Education Linda McMahon ordered the agency to regain control of the imposition of a law that requires schools to reveal foreign gifts or contracts worth $ 250,000 or more.
“The Biden Harris administration has amazed at the obligations of colleges and universities by overseeing supervision and allowing foreign gifts to flow on the American campus. Although extensive compliance failures, new investigations have not started in Section 117 for a period of four years, and continuous investigations were closed prematurely,” McMahon said in a statement. “I have a great confidence in my office for the General Adviser to completely investigate these matters, and they will start with a comprehensive examination of UC Berkeley’s failure to reveal important financing and accuracy received from foreign sources.”

The investigation comes amid Trump’s increasing scrutiny over foreign influence in American higher education.
Trump has signed this week on the rules of tightening an executive order on how to report colleges about foreign financing, and directing the Ministry of Education to retreat from previous policies that allow universities “mysterious details regarding their foreign financing” and making schools completely reveal where these funds come and what they are for.
The Ministry of Education said this issue gained attention after reports in 2023 that Berkeley had failed to report hundreds of millions of dollars he received from China.
Even before Trump’s participation, Harvard University understood that she suffers from a real problem on the side of anti -Semitism, says the expert

In response to a federal investigation at the time, Berkeley admitted that he had not reached $ 220 million and showed that it was building a long -term financial relationship with the entities controlled by the foreign government, with “misunderstanding its legal duty to reveal this funding,” the administration revealed in a press statement.
A spokesman for the Ministry of Education told Fox News Digital that they started requesting records at Harvard Foreign Finance University last week.

The White House Fact newspaper cited this week that there was a permanent sub -committee in the Senate about investigations that showed nearly $ 60 billion of gifts and foreign contracts to universities for several decades, and often with a little censorship. Federal officials say only a small part of the country is approximately 6000 institutions that are funded.
“President Trump ends the secret surrounding foreign financing in higher education to protect students, research and ideas market,” says newspaper.
